Cohesion between Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints' wide receiver has been one of the primary reasons the passing game seemed so explosive for so many seasons, and an aspect of the Saints easily taken for granted.

The synergy between Brees and the wideouts was developed by years of playing together. The group of Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem played so long with Brees that everyone involved knew each other's strengths, weaknesses and idiosyncrasies.

As good as Brees is and as talented as youngsters Brandin Cooks and Kenny Stills could be, the rapport among the bunch can't happen in an instant. It can't happen in a little more than a year, like the Brees-Stills relationship, or a few months, like Brees' work-in-progress bond with the rookie Cooks.
