Lucky than Good
Giving up 491 yards, 400 in the air, and that's when their qb was hurt after their 1st drive in the 2nd half, doesn't indicate that this defense is any better.
3 consecutive red zone drives all ending with very perplexing playcalling does not mean that this offense is any better. GB was the worst ranked defenses against the run, so we should have had no surprise in success, but I held my breath on so many occasions as passes that should have been defended were actually caught; those passes usually wound up in the wrong hands in weeks past. There was very little separation for our receivers, yet again, and the next few weeks feature pass defenses as good if not better than GB's. That onside kick was comical, and so, so lucky that we recovered. And further, when are we going to stop giving 10 yards of space to each receiver? We were very lucky last night. GB was really good, but not lucky. Wonder if we can get to the point where we can win without a lot of luck. |

Re: Lucky than Good
Did you not enjoy the game last night? That was the most fun I've had in the Dome since maybe sometime pre-2012.

Re: Lucky than Good
Green Bay and A Rodgers puts up those type of numbers on just about every team they play. Saints D was very opportunistic, came up with picks when the Pack became sloppy. Kennan took Jordy Nelson completely out of the game , Cam consistently beat his man off the line, Cooks showed the world why he was drafted in the 1st round, our O line parted the sea for Ingram.
We weren't completely lucky, we out played a GOOD team in many aspects of the game. When we had the opportunity to finish off a team, we did. |

... you know, I was going to offer counter points to your other points, but, meh.. You try too hard to maintain your forum persona.. heed Rodgers' advice. Relax. And if this is not your forum persona, seek help. |

Some people are just miserable and will never be satisfied.

Re: Lucky than Good
Standards and expectations have to meet at some point. Otherwise last night was a fluke. I'm miserable because we're 3-4, not because it's my state of mind.

Re: Lucky than Good
The Packers have been tearing it up. Highest-scoring offense in the NFC. Our offense matched them point-for-point in the first half and defense kept them from running away with it.
We made our own good luck in this game, just as we made our own bad luck against the Browns, Falcons and Lions. |
Re: Lucky than Good
just take the wins when they come especially if they are ones you can kick back and enjoy.
Plus SP got out cute to boot ! this week GB coaches gotta explain all the silly calls they made in the game not SP. |
Re: Lucky than Good
Its odd, we gave up 500 yards but it was probably our best defensive effort to date.
Not sure what to read into that one. |

Re: Lucky than Good
We got fortunate on both of the deflection interceptions and it swung the game in our favor. But very good to see Corey White was in the right place and playing well to allow those picks to happen.
Outside of some fails trying to tackle Eddie Lacy, our tackling was better than usual. |
Re: Lucky than Good
Our offense was keeping up with them just fine before he got hurt.
Our defense was even just a little better than theirs too. If he didn't get hurt 9 times out of 10 we win that game anyway. We cause two interceptions against a QB who is regarded as one of the best if not the best in the league with only one interception all year, actually get a little pressure for a change and beat what many were calling a Super Bowl contender by 3 touchdowns and people are still *****ing. |

Re: Lucky than Good
they played with heart last night but there are still some areas of concern we need to mop up especially on the road
our secondary was getting hit bad with short receptions in the flats white and ball were way off the ball this is Aaron Rodgers the key was we tightened within the red zone too many mistackles in the secondary, although Lacey was certainly earning those extra yards Finally - we send Cooks vertical and utilize his speed he busted right past the safeties on that TD Jimmy shows up this game and Drew fortunately doesn't have a receiver bat the ball in the air for a gift (we got those bounces) the media is focusing on a huge injury to Aaron Rodgers didn't look like he was hurt while he fired darts and eluded sacks during the second half we matched them score for score and then some when the turnovers and bonehead Packers going for it on their 40 occurred glad to see Payton not blowing a game with tom foolery shut them down on third down |

Similarly, the Packers, in 2 passing plays very early in the game (their first 2 drives), got 137 yards. That's roughly 1/3rd of their passing yards in 2 plays. The other 281 yards Rodgers threw for, it took him 26 completions in 37 attempts, which is still very decent by NFL standards, but it is not the dominant performance the 418 total yards suggest. |

3 consecutive red zone drives all ending with very perplexing playcalling does not mean that this offense is any better." How does a defense that isn't any better, after giving up a 70 yard touchdown pass on the opening drive keep the Packers from the end zone until the fourth quarter? How does a defense that isn't any better force Green Bay to kick 2 FGs after they were in the red zone? And in case you missed it, last night's game was only the THIRD time in NFL HISTORY that neither team punted! |

Re: Lucky than Good
I work with two Packer fans . They never said a word to me. I think they though it was going to be a cake walk.

Re: Lucky than Good
No cake for The Pack. No cake for the Panthers, either.
