No Corey White Love?
Come on, folks...Corey White had a solid game last night.
4 solo tackles, made a play on the goal line that ended with Hawthorne's INT, and then had his own INT with GB pressing into Saints territory late in the game. We flame this dude constantly, but we gotta give the dude some recognition for a good game. The body of work over the entire year isn't all that great for him, but hopefully this will build the confidence he needs to do his job well week-in, week-out. |
Re: No Corey White Love?
Absolutely,
To me, he should get the game ball. The Saints hung with Green Bay because they're a good team. They beat them because of turnovers. (your opinion my vary) |
Re: No Corey White Love?
Definitely.
The tip on Hawthorne's pick was the turning point in the game (despite Collingsworth bemoaning AR's massive pulled hamstring) C-Rob wasn't awful either. Only thing I didn't get was why Ball was in man so much |

Collingsworth is a pinhead. :annoyed: |
Re: No Corey White Love?
White takes a beating here, but his overall play is not too bad at all. It just seems like anytime he gets beat it's a huge play and the safety isn't anywhere on the TV screen because both of them think they're like Josh Bullocks now or something.
I'd much rather have him out there because he is mentally tough, tackles really well and doesn't get down on himself. He's a lot more like Keenan Lewis than he is Patrick Robinson. |
Re: No Corey White Love?
I have been one of the naysayers -- but White distinguished himself in this game. We needed turnovers -- he gave them to us. You know tipped balls aren't always a turnover ( nor are they gimmes ) and way way too many have gone to the ground on our secondary this season. I think White has been paying attention in class. Nicely done, kid.

Re: No Corey White Love?
I'll give him some props. Good play. Aggressive. If he can keep it up we might have a starting corner on our hands. Limit the big plays and make the plays that really count.
|
Re: No Corey White Love?
He made some plays and he was picked apart by Rodgers on other plays. Making plays when they are needed, and timely, are always welcomed tho!
|
Re: No Corey White Love?
He can only get better if he gets the reps; same with Dixon as I see something there as well...
Starting to get the feeling the Saints coaches expect the defenders to have perfect technique before they're allowed to sniff the field... How then do they hone their craft if they're not seeing the field?!? Get that there are only so many spots, but I look at guys like Pierre Warren and when they get into games, they just make plays... Foster might not have made the team last year without injuries in the front seven last year... Really a head scratcher, dysfunction with the talent evaluation, talent planning with this team... |
Re: No Corey White Love?
I rarely if ever give credit to someone I loathe tremendously....... And no I'm not talking about Corey White..... I'm talking about Teddy Bruschi. In there challenge flags segment Bruschi who rarely backs the Saints and always picks against them asked the Defense to get three turnovers. He coined it as one of the only ways that the Saints could beat Rodgers... Point proven. As far a Corey goes, excellent night. I give him credit for what I see. He is going to be picked on until he proves that he can go out and stop a receiving threat consistently though. Roders couldn't wait to throw the ball to whoever White was checking

Re: No Corey White Love?
shaving that mohawk did the trick. i thought he played very well most of the game. he is definately one of our more solid tacklers.
|
Re: No Corey White Love?
This is what Corey White does. He looks good for stretches then gives us the WTF play. If he can develop a bit more consistency he could be a good player in this league.
I hope this game was the one where the light came on for him. |
Re: No Corey White Love?
I wouldn't call him a great or even very good tackler. He's bounced off plenty of receivers.
Just glad to see him keep a play in front of him enough to make a tackle. The contested passes are icing on the cake. |
Re: No Corey White Love?
I am a Corey White fan... He is the best tackler on our team... he is very sound tackler.
I think it had a lot to do with us keeping it simple. No creative blitz, no trying to out-smart the other team just go basic. We have a lot of young talent out there and lost a lot of leaders on that unit. Giving them to much, they have to think to much. Just let them play. |
Re: No Corey White Love?
Lofton's our best tackler.
|
Re: No Corey White Love?
Corey is a competitor and he lives on the edge. He'll make the big play by breaking up a tight pass and the next play he will guess wrong or whiff at the break up for a long gain. I like his tackling technique and I like his competitiveness. Experience will turn him into a solid player for us and definitely worthy of the growing pains.

Re: No Corey White Love?
He played well for sure. I think it has more to do with RR tweaking the scheme and doing a better job personally. Ball has really looked good as well. He is playing his role like Vaccaro did last year.

Let's hope this is him growing as a CB, maybe he'll be decent some day. Right now he looks like our only hope. |
Re: No Corey White Love?
He is getting better.

Re: No Corey White Love?
Yeh, good for him. We finally had a pass rush that helped all those guys. Hat's off to Lewis even more for shutting down Nelson who has been hot all year.

Re: No Corey White Love?
there is always that rule of thumb for CB
In three years things should start to click and you get a good idea were the CB is heading. 2.0 years in the middle of the field as a nickle and i do not think any one can knock his development inside. lets see about .5 years on the outside now. so far are there some issues? sure are. but have we seen improvement? yep we have. do i see Corey as our answer outside? very unlikely at this point. but we still have a full season to go so lets see what he develops into. So we add a FA or draft a CB high in the draft in 2015 so what. the time he has spent on the island will only make him a better inside CB next year. I think he is right on schedule for the most part on the inside and outside he has shown the ability to get better as the season wears on. let review he is a third year CB/S from the small school power house of Samford University drafted in the fifth round that has cemented himself as a solid nickle back and probably the best tackler in the secondary. what is not to like? |
