Vaccaro praises Harper, but not Jenkins

Vaccaro-Jenkins tension: Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro praised the way that former Saints veteran Roman Harper was “selfless” and helpful to him last season even though Vaccaro’s first-round draft status presumably threatened Harper’s job security.

On the flip side, Vaccaro told The Advocate’s Ramon Antonio Vargas that it wasn’t the same case with former Saints veteran Malcolm Jenkins, whom Vaccaro felt was less welcoming.

Harper is now with the rival Carolina Panthers, who will host his former team on Thursday night. Look for more on the reunion later.

Harper always seemed like the team first, selfless kind of guy

I remember how Harper reacted when Vaccaro was drafted, pretty much said he's here to take my spot but together we will make the defense better

I got the same impression. Harper always seemed like team player.

I haven't even been signed up with this forum for a whole year, but even in last year's season, I thought Harper got a lot of unwarranted hate around here. Probably because he's from Bama and a lot of people here are die hard LSU fans. Harper was a good player for the Saints.

Jenkins, on the other hand... He deserved every bit of his criticism.

Harper was a scapegoat. Some still believe he was the reason we lost the San Fran playoff game.

That game still makes me mad. I truly believe we would have beat the Giants in the NFCCG, had we escaped SF with a win. We were utterly dominant at home that year, more so than usual.

I blame Gregg Williams for that loss.

People gave harper grief when something went wrong (a lot of time not his assignment) and then wouldn't give him praise when he played well

He was the main reason we won the 2013 opener when he had two turnovers, a lot of people wouldn't give him praise.

FIVE turnovers is why we lost. GW's decision to play Jenkins on Vernon Davis all game was second to that.

The early fumbles killed us
Loosing Thomas to Whitner head hunting, the kick off fumbe we just gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

I am amazed at how the five turnovers never get mentioned when talking to most Saints fans about that game. That is hands down the main reason we lost. No turnovers and that game wouldn't have even been close.
