The First Place New Orleans Saints
Leading the NFC South
Running the football well Playing better defense Finishing games 5 of the next 8 at home (3 in a row) There isn't a team in the NFL that isn't afraid of what's transpired in NOLA! :bng: |

Closing out a road game the old fashioned way, run it down their throats
Ingram did not want to come out of that game at all. Great team win, exactly what we needed |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
That's two games in a row, where Corey White has made impact plays on defense!

love it!
We're not a contender yet. But things are rounding into shape. The Detroit and Cleveland games kill me. We had those in hand. We could easily be 6-2 right now dammit. |

He's right. Plenty of season yet. Don't get me wrong, what I've seen is encouraging. But don't crown their ass yet! |

It could serve us well for the rest of the season making us mentally tough. |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
It kills me to think that we could be 7-1 and one of the best teams in the league. Although I think we're better off as underdogs. This team could get red-hot going into the post-season. Maybe those losses helped bring this team back where they needed to be. Still a lot of football left.

Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
The only negative is the amount of hits on Brees. However we did overcome some nasty turnovers.
|
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
A great result. Really pleasing considering where we were two weeks ago. Sets me up for a great weekend too: Sean Payton and Drew Brees' autobiographies were delivered to my doorstep yesterday - I can't wait to get into them.

Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
GREAT win - just what we needed!
That last TD drive reminded me of 2006 game against the Eagles where we ran off over 7 minutes, kicked a FG and beat them while their offense stood watching helplessly on the sidelines... |

Did anyone notice how Roman Harper forgot which team he was playing for and pop one of his own teammates DE 94, leaving him lying on ground in pain? I don't think I ever seen Harper hit anyone that hard. |

But, it was a GREAT WIN -- on the road. What did I say? Road Warriors started tonight!! |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Niners are next. I really hope we bury them at home.

Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Like the 4-4 record, have tempered enthusiasm with concerns...
Glad to see us running the ball, especially to finish games in winning fashion... After Armstead and Lelito, this offensive line looks like it will be lucky if it's still standing at season's end... Cooks' maturity as a pro player stands out as much as his speed, quickness... Brees rediscovered ability to hit players like Cooks, IN STRIDE, downfield to keep teams from congested the front third of the field... Roll Tide is finally playing to his billing as a first round plus selection... When do we get our RB depth back? Hope we don't overpay for Roll Tide in the offseason (don't think he'll stay with Payton anyways)... Galette finally beat his man one-on-one for a sack last night... This was not the same Panthers defense from a year ago; and even they seem to rattle the Saints early... One game at a time, one game at a time... |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
now lets see if we can hold onto it. serious teams rolling into town the next few weeks.
|
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
The Panthers bailed us out on quite a few plays. Something is wrong with Vaccaro and the cushion our DB's are giving are concerning. WR's are having no issue creating separation. Overall, great win. Our offense is clicking and I love it seeing Drew taking more and more intermediate shots down field instead of checking down. I think it was holding back our offense at the beginning of the season. Our front 7 is creating more pressure and things are looking up for the defense.
Can't wait til next week. Longer layoff this week. =/ |

Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Happy to have clawed our way back into things and starting to look respectable on defense and rushing the ball.
We played our best game on defense and it was made to look better by a pathetic Cam Newton. How anyone thinks this guy is a pro QB is beyond me. He has no touch, poor accuracy and no heart. Carolina is a flat out pathetic offense but it was what we needed on the road right now to gain some confidence. |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Great back-to-back games considering they played a hot GB team a few days ago, then go into a division rival's house and beat them by 18 (EIGHTEEN) freakin' points. That last TD drive was a thing of beauty. And with Carolina and the pundits whining about Carolina's rookie UDFA O-Lineman, they can chew on this: Lelito 2nd year UDFA center & Harris 2nd year UDFA RT was on that field during last TD drive.
You gotta have depth to win in this league, and we showed that last night. Oh, and we were missing Byrd...and PT...and Khiry...and Hawthorne...and Goodwin...and Strief for most of the 2nd half. Anyone notice how well Bush is playing in the FS role, BTW? Not great, but not terrible. I think we do well in the next 3 games in the Dome against the Whiners, Ravens, & Bengals...we seem to play tougher teams very well in the Dome in the SP/Brees era. Not saying we make a clean-sweep of these 3 teams (though it would be completely awesome), but we simply play better against the better teams in the Dome. You have to win the quarters of any season. 1st quarter we were 1-3. 2nd quarter we were 3-1. We go 3-1 in each of the last 2 quarters, we end this thing 10-6. 2-1 in the division is not too shabby either. We have to play the Fail Clowns & Carolina back in the Dome and play TB on the road left in this season. 5-1 or 4-2 in this division with about a 10-6 overall record will get us a division and #3 seed. As long as we keep playing good, sound ball...especially the defensive side of the ball for the road games left. Stranger things have happened... |

Despite a poor performance, Newton still managed to squeeze in his Superman pose.
Whew. Thought I may have gone a week without seeing that. |

Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Scam went 10-28 (36% Comp Percentage) for 151 yds 0 TD/ 1 INT. Scam ran 7 times for 43 yards and a TD. We got the privilege of seeing his "Superman" pose after the TD. The only Carolina TD. We scored 4 of them as a team.
Scam got sacked 4 times and fumbled once...inside his own 10 yard line. Scam got JACKED UP by Junior with help from Cam Jordan on that fumble. A team play. Scam "Superman" Newton should have gave us all just one more "Superman" pose. Right after Ingram ran 3 yards for a TD that put us up 28-10. Instead, we got to see Mr. Pout-like-a-9-year-old get sacked TWICE in his last possession of the game. Junior gave us that last "Superman" pose, instead of Mr. Pout-like-a-9-year-old. Now go home and pout, "Superman". |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Supposedly after juniors sack fumble on Cam Newton he shouted to the NFL network guys
"TALK ABOUT THAT ON YOUR SHOW" lmao |

I will say that Picayune & Bay St Louis have the absolutely biggest skeeters I have ever seen in my life...you could saddle & ride them and a team of them could lift a car. It takes 2 hours to get feeling back in your arm after one of them suckers gets a'hold of it. It sure is pretty down there in Picayune and the entire Gulf Coast, for that matter...just not in August. The humidity and skeeters make it impossible to function properly. What this has to do with the Saints being in 1st place? I don't know...we get nostalgic for home when our Saints are winning, I reckon. |
Re: The First Place New Orleans Saints
Could we ride Ingram to a title?

can the group of WR step for the first time this year or will it be the Jimmy show till he gets all beat up again? If they step up as a group then yes we ride his battered body all the way there as the keep the defenses honest reason we made it. but it is all up to the WR if that is work, Jimmy can only take so much abuse and a battered Ingram and his efforts will be all in vain |
