Re: 9ers @ NO: What do we know and how do we use it
The game against the Rams wasn't as close as the score board recorded. The Rams recovered a fumble for a TD -- but it was called back unfairly. They should have won by at least 10 points. Of course, the Rams offense is also scary bad.
But, the story of this game is 9ers O-line. It sucks and so does their QB. They were penalized so much in the 4th qtr. -- at their own end of the field -- the announcers joked that if they kept it up they'd be backed up into their own locker room. Kap has been sacked 14 times in the last 2 games. They have also been penalized for 106 yards and have only run for 142 yards in the last two games. "Jo-Lonn (Dunbar) did a great job recognizing sneak. You can just kind of tell by a quarterback's mannerisms when they're going to sneak." said Laurinaitis. Somebody needs to give Jo-Lonn a call and ask him what Kap's tell is. |

My big fear is The Dude. Will he keep the D that's bringing us back, or will he get bored and try to fancy it up? Fancy didn't work earlier this season and it's not going to work now. If Rob follows the KISS philosophy, then we win by fourteen. If he gets fancy, we chew our nails down to the nubs, Drew throws a pick six (anyone else notice he tries to overdo it at times -especially when he gets nervous?) we drink even more than usual and those bastards go home winning by three.

If they are in FG range we should bring pressure on 3rd down. Against the Rams, Kap made so many dumb mistakes and was sacked for big loses (out of FG range).

We can bring pressure but we must keep outside containment. Jr can't keep crashing the inside giving up the outside or Katlick will burn us with the run.

We need to do what St Louis did to him. Blitz this dummy. He has no clue how to read a defense and he gets flustered when he's put on his butt.
He becomes dangerous when he creates time in the pocket and he has the arm to zip balls in when receivers can create separation. And when he gets time he has the speed to exploit our defense for big gains with his legs. If we don't get pressure on him and force throws or keep him dancing back there he can slowly eat our defense and get confidence. I'd love to see an all out blitz on his first snap and just plant him in the dirt no matter what happens on the play to set the tone. |
