Saints - an "us against the world" that would consider Ray Rice
yet another interesting interview on NFL Radio's Opening Drive this morning
Ross was interviewing Peter King of Sports Illustrated Talking about Ray Rice (then Adrian Peterson) Was a team really going to take a shot at Ray Rice this year? Perhaps an "Us against the world" type team like the Raiders or Saints or something might take a chance and sign the guy if he is available, but honestly did the NFL really need to pile on once the Raiders cut him? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How could the Saints be qualified as a team that will pick up a risky player with major character issues? I think Payton and Loomis have always been great at evaluating talent and looking at the quality of the player on the field, as a teammate and for their character off the field. I can think of plenty of good players we passed on who didn't fit that criteria also we have a nice tandem of running backs |

Didn't realize it was "'us' against the world"...
However, if that's the lot, then team and fans should be highly motivated moving forward and firmly realize we control our own destiny... The task, though daunting, is simple - beat the opponent that is in front of us until the Lombardi is ours... Code of the Warrior... |

No thanks. Not only do I not want Rice because of what he did, but he's also a washed up football player at this point in his career. His last year playing with Baltimore was really bad. I can't think of a single way this would be a good move.

Lumping us with the Raiders is an insult.
The NFL Radio network sees us as rogue after we refused post-game interviews with the TNF crew. Who could blame Coach Payton? What other team has been scheduled for a Sunday night game to turn around and play on Thursday night? I'm sure Coach and players were so exhausted they wanted out of there are bolted for a plane ride home. |

yes
King also commented in the interview that he couldn't believe how atrocious it was that the commissioner had to be questioned for two hours in hearings on the Rice case |

Re: Saints - an "us against the world" that would consider Ray Rice
Well I'm not sure what Payton or Loomis would think of Rice, but we have kinda discussed this before. Payton has always been more than willing to have a small number of "head cases" fruitcakes or troubled children on the roster, as long as they promise to behave themselves and keep their personalities and off-field issues in check.
Guys like Anthony Hargrove and Jeremy Shockey were very much head cases....Reggie Bush was also a bit of a head case sometimes...Vilma with the poker playing up in New York...even Jimmy Graham is maybe a bit of a hothead or wild child, difficult to control sometimes...you had Joe Morgan, and there was also that fullback from New England who had all the DUI's, can't remember his name.... SO a certain number of guys like that CAN play for the Saints, but it always stays OUT of the locker room, and they seem to stay out of trouble. And Payton might let one or two in, but he never lets them take charge or get so great in number that they affect the rest of the team. |

sorry i am of the school once you do your time it is all over with.
I remember get lamb basted bring up trading for Lynch way back when. all i heard was bad apple blah blah blah. we look what happened. he learned his lesson and we passed up on a golden opportunity. Rice returns to the nfl then it is time served. end of story hell yeah the saints should look at getting him here. insensitive laden contract you would be absolutely stupid not to go after him with cap issues we have. he fits our offense too boot |
