Five Reasons the Saints will beat the 49ers - Crescent City Kings
Yesterday, much to the chagrin of Saints fans everywhere, we released “Five reasons why the 49ers will beat the Saints”. Now we are taking a look at what factors could tilt the scales of competition in favor of the home team. 5.) Commitment to the Run With extra emphasis on the word commitment. Sean Payton is on pace to obliterate the team’s 2013 rushing stats, that year, the Saints rushed 391 times for 1473 yards 10 TDs, 3.8 ypc avg. This season, runners have rushed 218 times for 1036 yards and 12 TDs, 4.8 ypc. avg. If this trend continues the Saints 2014 rushing attack will finish in close resemblance to the 2009 team. If they Saints run and run often they will win. 4.) Rejuvenated Defense In the last four games the Saints defense has played with a completely different pulse than it did when this season started. In the first four games, the unit surrendered, 396 per game and 27.5 points per game. The squad is allowing 51 yards less each game (345) and has been especially stout against the run (80.7 yds/gm in the last 4). More importantly has been the points and turnovers, after having a single turnover through 4, the Saints have forced 8 in the last 4 games. When the noise at their backs the Saints D should corral the visitors. 3.) Hotstreak One thing that has been consistent throughout Sean Payton’s tenure in NO has been the team’s ability to get hot during the season. Saints Winning Streaks Under Payton 13 (2009) 8 (2011) 6 (2010) 5 (2013) 4 (2007) 3 (2006) *2x All signs are pointing to the Saints being on the roll again and the 49ers are next. 2.) QB Pressure Last year the Saints sacked the QB 49 times in 16 games. Cam Jordan (12.5) and Junior Gallete (12.0) lead the charge. Through 5 games this season the Saints totaled 6 sacks, however, they have pumped up their performance and have registered 11 in the last three outings. If they can put Kaepernick down, they have a good chance of winning. BTW, Kaep’s been sack 14 times in the last 2 weeks. OUCH! 1.) DOMEfield Advantage Finally, it’s DOMEfield advantage. The Saints are a completely different team at home versus the road. There’s just something different about that turf, with that crowd, and that noise. The Saints have won 20 straight home games with Sean Payton in the building and I think that number grows this weekend. WHO DAT!!! My prediction SAINTS win with relative ease 30-20! |
I JUST WANNA HEAR IT...." GO SAINTS ALL THE WAY SAINTS GO ALL THE WAAAAY GO SAINTS ALL THE WAY SAINTS GO ALL THE WAAAAY ( I BELIEVE)!!!!!!! GOD I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!!
