Questions from yesterday's game
Hey Saints fam
Wasn't able to see the game due to work, so had some questions 1. It looks like we couldn't get the offense working, what went wrong and what went right (if anything)? 2. How'd the offensive line play? Saw Brees had no sacks, but was he under a lot of pressure? If so, was it the middle of the line again? 3. Looks like we couldn't run the ball for the first time, what were the issues leading to that? 4. Were there many dropped passes by our WR's? 5. We only had one turnover it seems (Cadet football), how'd that happen? 6. How did the defense play overall? 7. Saw some highlights, looked like Dalton just had some perfectly thrown balls even with good coverage. Was it like that all game? 8. Was the D-line able to get pressure on Dalton? I saw only one sack 9. How'd our DBs play? Who did well and who did poorly? Thanks everyone, really appreciate your feedback #WhoDat |

Re: Questions from yesterday's game
We managed to sustain drives but failed to get points at the end
Defense could not get off the field at all, allowing drives of 94 and 96 yards Cadet fumble was in garbage time, he needs to be cut - he's useless Brees missed two wide open passes on the first drive that would have gone for TD's, Cooks and Hill were both wide open With 13 seconds to go in the half, defense allowed a 60 yard run and Bengals got a FG and got the ball starting the second half Bengals loaded up to stop the run and our O line got whipped all day, no holes for Ingram at all Dalton carved us up all game Keenan Lewis only played 10 snaps all game, AJ Green *****ed Corey white and Brian Dixon Colston made a great toe tapping grab and then dropped an easy TD Offense ran the same plays all game and it looked like Bengals knew what was coming every play In the 3rd quarter down by 3 scores, we had no sense of urgency, we kept huddling, taking our time getting to the line and running that dumb WR screen to cooks and out routes all game We should have gone no huddle coming out into the second half, entire team looked defeated after the 1st quarter. |

Re: Questions from yesterday's game
The Saints didn't score a touchdown until the top of the 4th quarter. At that point it was 20-10. Then the Bengals marched right down the field immediately after that, with a methodical drive like something out of a football textbook, and made it 27-10. There was a huge sucking of wind out of the Superdome fans after that, people STREAMED to the exits and the Dome began to seriously empty out at that point. This was still the top of the 4th. The Cadet fumble was meaningless.
Earlier in the game the Saints got stuffed on 4th and goal at the Bengal 1 yard line, they had 6 tries (because of a penalty) and still couldn't get in. On a cutesy Sean Payton play that went nowhere and was immediately snuffed out. At that point the team went into meltdown mode, and EVERYTHING stopped working. After that play, they gave the Bengals the ball on the 1 and they marched down the field for a FG, and made it look easy. The defense was terrible. The Bengals passing game plan consisted solely of, line up, check where #24 for the Saints is, throw it to THAT GUY, complete, first down, repeat as needed. The team had no urgency, no life, no spark, no swagger, nothing at all. Very emotionless, almost cold. They don't show it on TV, but when the players run out the tunnel, the veterans all jog slowly like they are bored, uninterested, they have no energy or fire about them at all. And the bad players on the defense, run out the tunnel and jump around and throw all these Madden and WWF type poses and moves. These guys all look their best of the day, in the pregame huddle before the smoke and fire clears. Overall it was one of the most boring games I have ever watched in the Sean Payton era, if you missed it, you didn't miss anything....a fire in a trash can on a street corner is more interesting. They really ought not to play the Stand Up And Get Crunk song when the team is still way behind, and they are stinking up the Dome, it really is depressing. If they can't score a TD in 3 quarters of football then they shouldn't play it at all that day. |

Number of sacks don't mean much when we are talking about Brees. Very deceiving numbers considering his pocket presence. Not just pass blocking, running game wasn't working also. Only good runs were on the outside in the second half when they went in prevent. |

Re: Questions from yesterday's game
Disappointing to read everything but appreciate the updates. I saw that Bush fractured his tibia, so we're down another FS now. Guess it's time for Vinnie Sunseri to get his change on stage. And, personally, I'd like Lelito to be at Center. With him in, we won two game. Last two games he's been out, we lost. Not saying Goodwin is the problem, but I think Lelito played better offensively.
So Keenan Lewis only had about 10 snaps and Corey White was picked on all game huh? And Dixon? I'm gonna assume PRob was also. We need better CBs along with Lewis. At some point I expect them to throw SJB in if the season gets out of hand (think we're still in 1st in the South), but we need better talent than PRob and White. Gonna be an interesting offseason with these large contracts and people on the decline. Could see some cuts coming to save cap space (Grubbs, Evans, Hawthorne, Bunkley, Lofton, etc) or major contract restructuring. |
