We don't have the personnel for either...

Problem starts in the Front Office...

Loomis has been ridden the Marques Colston in the Seventh Round pick so far...

He and his scouting department need an enema...

It's Payton's ability to maximize resources on the field that's gotten this team where it has achieved...

You have to start somewhere; which/who would you prefer as the next DC?

With the budget and personnel we have it won't matter of he had bill Belichick....they still wouldn't amount to anything....I think most of our issues start with the positional coaches.

I wouldn't be against a return by Dennis Allen(DC not secondary); I'd like to see him have the opportunity to bring whatever position coaches he wanted; not a fan of Joe Vitt or Bill Johnson as the LB/D-Line coaches...

I don't like Dennis Allen either.
I'd like to see some for real draft picks on d-line, find a way to drop the payload of overpaid defenders (Byrd), and bring in a veteran LB and 1 more veteran corner. Lewis is all we have at corner. We're all Safeties and most aren't that great.

He did alright in 2011 as the Broncos DC; even had a hand in drafting Von Miller/Rahim Moore and signing Wesley Woodyard... I'd be satisfied... :bng:

I think we get what we pay for and getting washed up overlooked Def Coordinators isn't working. I don't even think Gregg Williams was good...we just had a stud at MLB two underrated shutdown corners and a ball hawk safety...I could have been their defensive coordinator

They had a early draft pick where it was easy to get a big player. A broncos fan I play fantasy sports with says it makes all the difference when you have a really high pick and can get players like that. In a way this is another reason i would want to trade Graham so we can get a huge pick. We need for once to have 8 or more picks in a draft. We have not had a lot of picks in a while.

No need to worry about depth if your starters aren't up to par

Sean Payton looks drained in the post game interview!

I'm guessing thats from shouting so much in the locker room and also the realisation that we have now played 3 home games and lost them all!

How is he ever going to fix this "car crash" of a season?

What must be going through his head as he now has to face a road game at the Steelers next Sunday?

I don't think there is any quick fix...they just need to play hard and we as fans can only hope for the best. It has been a crappy, frustrating season.

bad throw, dumb play, should have ate the sack, but it starts with the oline, and they have not been good and last night was no exception.

Running game????

The Ravens stopped that nearly every time. Ingram had 11 carries for 27 yards. Thats not going to get it done!

Passing the ball more was our only real option.

Time will tell if we let him go or not, but he was getting yelled at again last night

You can because we have two good tackles, the real issue I saw last night, and anyone else with feedback where I might be lacking please jump in, was JG getting blown up, bad!

GEAUX SAINTS

He looked like that last week as well. I think he is beyond frustrated, putting in more and more effort and getting similar results. It's not working. And winning the Division, it would cause more media embarrassment than respect, which it should if the finally tally is 7W's.

Are you saying Tracey Porter was a shut down CB?..

In 2010 with Williams our defense ranked 4th and we had a **** ton of injuries that year to guys like Sharper and Vilma... Greg Williams had far less talent then what Ryan has this year. This 2014 team was the most talent i have seen the Saints put together and that is what hurts the most. That is also the reason why Rob should go.

Thought for sure we'd run away with the division

I've noticed this myself. Considering the talent that LSU has grown why don't we have any on D. I think a freshman LSU corner could cover better than any of the Saints.

It does start with the O-Line. But doesn't Drew Brees have an input to that?

Our offensive line has been crazy inconsistent. Goodwin starts over Lelito and Lelito is more consistent. Tired of coaches giving the start to the "ole veteran" - what we need is the BEST player to play at any give down at every position. Unfortunately 5 years have passed since the SuperBowl season and our O-line needs a major overhaul - something we don't have in the pocketbook or draft picks to accomplish.

True, before this season started the consensus was that we were one of the most talented team in the entire league.

Injuries really hurt, but numerous players underachieved and badly.

Jordan, Hicks, JJenkins, Vaccaro, Bunkley, Grubbs, Goodwin, Evans, Colston, etc.

We do have a couple of talent holes, but no more than other teams. I'm convinced it isn't the talent for the most part. That talent is under-performing. Thats on the coaches in my opinion.

Sadly, all true.

In my darkest moments I think start from scratch on the whole offense. Yep we will have to suck up some terrible losses, but the team requires a major overhaul that will not be corrected by this or that draft only.

This. And it's NOT just LSU. The Saints have too many players that are reaches, grasps, projects, and small school picks and UDFA's. Not enough meat and potatoes guys. It kinda feels like Loomis and Payton have just gotten too far out and crazy with this small school/reaching/grasping at straws stuff.

Look at how Dallas rebuilt their O line. They're all boring picks from BIG, established, big-name football schools -- Notre Dame, Mizzou, USC, Wisconsin, Texas. BIG schools. Well known programs. THere isn't a single "surprise" pick or weird school in the bunch. Then look at the Saints D and secondary -- yes I know this type of talent scouting occasionally works miracles, and you find gems in the rough, from small schools, especially thinking of unknown guys we found on offense like Colston or Pierre Thomas; but you're fooling yourself if you think that places like Memphis, Northwest Missouri State, Boston College and "Samford" are going to consistently produce elite legitimate pro level talent, like an SEC or Big 10 level program will produce. I blame Payton and Loomis for getting caught up in this type of butterfly-chasing, when it comes to these draft picks that are reaches or grasping at straws. They've outsmarted themselves.

Re: SAINTS VS RAVENS Gameday Thread

IF we punch in the ball into the endzone from the 1-yard line AND Brees avoids the pick 6 this was a sure win. Those mistakes were backbreakers and I thought the team hung in there just enough despite giving up tons of offense to the Ravens.
