CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports coach Sean Payton and DC Rob Ryan "strongly dislike each other," and "change is inevitable this offseason."

Sources told La Canfora that the two men "hate" each other. Ryan turned around the defense last season, but the relationship between Ryan and Payton has deteriorated in a 4-7 season. They've gotten into multiple heated exchanges on the sideline and behind closed doors. Ryan will likely be fired. Ex-Raiders coach Dennis Allen, who worked under Payton in New Orleans before going to Denver, could be a candidate to replace Ryan. That's pure speculation on our part.

Firing Rob Ryan will piss off a lot of our players but it'll be their own damn fault.

Damn, to bad some positional coaches are such a nice guys...

You can suck at doing your job but if you are good with Payton and have no backbone you are OK...

My issue is the positional coaches especially special teams and Vitt seem to constantly get off the hook because they are close woth Payton. This will be the third DC sacked since 2011 the linebackers have stunk up the joint nearly every year yet its always the DC that takes the blame.

I do laugh at the reports saying how we have spent highly on the defense in rookie picks and free agents. plenty of money has been wasted yes but when was the last time the team took a LB in the first?. The scouts anf positional coaches need to go before Ryan but it wont happen.

Allen was a awful DC with the Broncos a terrible head coach with the Raiders why would we bring him back other than he is another loyal member of Paytons twam


Allen's Broncos were in the bottom half of yards allowed, ranked 23rd, but were 5th in the league in sacks

Yeah I don't get the love for Allen either. Sure we had lots of interceptions in 2009 when he was secondary coach but I don't see anything that makes him an attractive DC option.

He may be, but I think its easy to see that Payton and Ryan are not getting on, which is to be expected because the whole team is a mess at this point.

Payton never seems to like anybody he hires after a year though, he and GW went at each others throats after the SB season.
