Lance Moore feels blessed for time with New Orleans Saints
Would be nice to still have him on the team!
It was Monday, Sept. 26, 2005. Free agent wide receiver Lance Moore was serving as a graduate assistant for the Toledo University football team while working to finish his degree. A month earlier, he had been waived from the Cleveland Browns. Moore was traveling with the Rockets to play Fresno State the next night. When the squad landed in Fresno, a coach told him his mom and agent were trying to get in contact with him. Moore immediately called his mom and she delivered some great news – the New Orleans Saints wanted to sign him to their practice squad. With just an overnight backpack, Moore took the next flight out of Fresno to San Antonio to meet with the Katrina-displaced Saints. After splitting time between the active roster and practice squad during his first two seasons with the Black and Gold, Moore would go on to appear in 101 games with 30 starts and record 346 receptions for 4,281 yards with 38 touchdowns. He also returned 47 punts for 387 yards. His reception total ranks fourth in club record books and his receiving yardage and touchdown catch totals fifth. In six postseason contests, Moore had 13 receptions for 132 yards with one touchdown and also caught a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV to give the Saints a 24-17 lead. Re: Lance Moore feels blessed for time with New Orleans Saints
One of my favourite Saints of all time, no one seems to talk about his Superbowl catch as being one of the great ones! If catching a pass upside down and then extending for the goal line whilst rolling over your head isn't a great catch I don't know what is.
No doubt Drew misses lance, 8 seasons together and they could connect on passes with their eyes closed Leveon Bell is going to have a huge day against us and Lance will do some damage too |

We were blessed to have him. I really miss that man. I flipped on a game and watched him play a couple of weeks back and it was good to see him still catching balls.

Lance will kill us. Just like Ivory did last year and just like every ex Saint we play against not named Harper.

Re: Lance Moore feels blessed for time with New Orleans Saints
Lance was/is still one of my favorites, best HANDS we had.
One of the few that learned to catch a football with his HANDS. Lance Moore is a player...he makes plays. He was our 3rd down possesion receiver who could actually get separation at will. We miss that now and Stills has not stepped it up. Moore could/would make adjustments on high/low/back throws...and still make the catch. ...and STILL make the catch. Can't even count the number of drives he extended for us. Drives that turned into points - not punts. And was smart enough to get down before getting his head taken off. He was a hawk once the ball was in the air and could play in the moment. Brees misses him, and so do I. Moore's middle play made Colston and Graham more effective. I like Moore but would hate to see him torch us this week. It would be like the dagger of a friend. I would have matched whatever Pitt offered...but that's just me talking. |

Good ol' Lance ... thought it was kind of cool his Mom posted on the board as well, . You don't see that very often (if ever!) and was just one of those things that made you glad he was on the team (& you hung around), IMO. .
