Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
scouting depts report to the coordinators.
it is the coordinators job to take the reports and and rank the players. The scouts will beat on desks for players they really like and try to get them moved up the board with the coordinators, the final ranking of players is reached with the final agreement of the coordinators. when the draft is going on if a coordinator really wants a player it can get comical by all reports. that is were SP and Mickey have the final call as to what is best for the club. but in no way does the coordinator get stuck with players and told to make it work. |

Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
RG3 is still a topic? love his deep ball but that is about it. then damaged goods and locker room chemistry issues? pass. give a troubled RB first.
If we were to take a QB to develop my vote goes to Brett Hundley UCLA. He is a solid prospect that needs a few years to develop. think Aron rogers time frame here without the first round cost. second round |

RG3 looked pretty damn good when he put up 400 yards of offense in his first career start against us

Brees retires as a Saint after 2017 season unless the Texans want to trade JJ Watt for him next year.

No one here is in the organisation so they don't know who has a say and who doesn't I have to believe that Offensive and defensive coordinators have some input in what players are being drafted. |

if this is the case i owe Rob a big i am sorry for the saints have one of the most screwed up draft system in the NFL. Draft a square peg for a round hole and expect it to work geessshhhhh aint his fault. |
Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
Who did we draft recently on defense that's a square peg in a round hole?

Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
I'm not thinking about life after Drew.
I'm thinking life after Goodwin. |
Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
I would like to see Drew here for a few more years with great protection like he used to have. He's not comfortable with that line and it's very obvious. I will admit,he did look comfortable yesterday, and we saw the results of that. I would love to build a superior o line to protect Brees on his way out and give a good start to whoever comes in. Someone mentioned getting Cousins and I would not have a problem with that. I've been impressed with him the few times I got to watch him play. I feel pretty good about Griffin(Drews backup, not RG3),but I think Cousins would be a better option IMO.

Primadona = RGIII.

For those that feel tempted, please see exhibit the NY Jets... what a disaster at QB!

Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
Goodwin's play this season has impacted both guard spots.
Solidify the line and we'll get another 3-4 years of the Drew Brees we saw in Pittsburgh. |

just being generalizing in my statement. If the DC is at the mercy of player operation and has to take what he gets than that is a risk i can see happening. I would owe the site and Rob a huge apology. IMO an approach like this to the drafting makes no sense whats so ever and would make me really worried about the front office organization as a whole. Basic ideology is completely flawed. |

We are going to clinch the division and get a home game anyway. Maybe even two. If we get two home games in the playoffs I might pass straight out.

Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
After this weeks game we could probably get a 6th rounder for him. Make it happen Loomis........you know he's losing it fast.

This is the whole problem. SP figures Drew is so good he can lack on the o-line. If he spent the money on the o-line and just paid Bush at safety we would have 4 more wins this year. |
Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
The day Drew is not taking snaps on game day is the time I know
we are rebuilding! |
Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees
There are no QBs in this draft class other than Mariota that I like. I like a few young NFL backups. Hell, Mark Sanchez could run our offense decently. Did I say that? I hate USC. RG3=Aaron Brooks. We'd end up hearing Haslett's line every year how he's reducing the playbook so the QB can get it. LOL!

But my issue with player personnel as you have him is the basic job description does not fit it really. I always viewed them as the Chatty Cathy's of the NFL. they know all the dirty. that is their job. A NFL Social Butterfly Society member Or "THE" Executive Secretary. I never really viewed him as the person who selects anyone. but i am sure there are times when he has the swaying statement or two. his research gathering must be flawless and his source must be solid. or your sunk. So in no way do i minimize his role in any off this. he is huge in getting every thing ready for the off season If the GM, OC or DC want more info on players he is the guy to get it. just do not ask him to get the coffee. :) Do not get on his bad side either. last person you want to give you a bad recommendation for your next job. Who is the Pro Personnel Director? | National Football Post One of an agents’ best friends is the Pro Personnel Director. We need him to have a positive opinion about our clients, we need him to get our client a workout when he’s on the street, and help sell his value internally when doing a contract. One of the most understated jobs in the NFL is the Pro Personnel Director. On paper, his job is to know every relevant player in the league who can possibly become available in any capacity and help his team. The Pro Director doesn’t get to make a lot of moves. The ones that he does make can make the difference of a team making the playoffs, having solid back-ups, and making sure that the bottom half of the roster is competitive and can fill in when a star player is hurt. However, this position is at times under managed, mismanaged and the wrong man can do more harm than good to his team. Who is the Pro Personnel Director? | National Football Post GM - i understand his role and to Mickey's credit he has done a solid job. It can not be easy when both DC and OC want a pick and refuse to budge As soon as i get a response or two i will post it |
