The thought is a joke.

Please! We all know the losses are all his fault! /sarcasm

I guess his 5 touchdown 140+ QB rating game silenced the haters... :bng:

Brees will retire a Saint. This coming year he will redue his contract to free up some space and add a year or two to the end. I do see the Saints drafting a qb or maybe trading for a Redskins qb, Cousins not RGIII. They could grab him for a 4th that would be a steal. The guy is a stud and would learn a lot under Brees. He has a bright future with the right coaching.

Every super pay player, Payton Manning included, has their contract chipped away over time - organizations simply cannot pay them in full and keep the organization afloat with personnel.

As for mistakes: front office paying Jarius Byrd "Jimmy Graham" money considering Byrd was injured last season was the biggest mistake this front office has made in a long time - especially since it cost us Sproles and apparently two core safeties to make-way. However funky our defense was last season, it worked. It works less well by a mile this year.

This is all posturing for a re-negotiation, which I believe will happen and will free money for free-agency. I just don't think we have the draft position or picks to draft that high without selling out the entire draft "Rickey Williams" style which brings us back to killing our draft for a few years to come.

Very nice and well thought out post. I could not agree more.

wow I want one person to come up with a QB that can do what Drew does?

Now find me a team that wants to part with them. It is not going to happen.

there is no Andrew Luck out on the Horizon in college football.

I can think of a million reasons to stand pat and start the chest game and reload around Drew till his final day.

here i was not taking this talk serious.

This is just more journalistic crap like most ever thing that comes out.

Are the Saints looking ahead? they better be planning things out and not making knee jerk decisions as the roll along. come on this is a multi million dollar business. of course they are.

It is no big deal!

Its SOP!

RELAX!

do not let the media lead you down the road of stupidity

As i said I love the Byrd signing but for that kind of money i would have passed.

Some one believed that Byrd was the answer to finish of building this defense to super bowl level. other wise why go to such lengths to make him fit the cap?

I will say it again. The sales man is Rob Ryan. Sp and Mickey had to buy into it but the master mind behind it all was and still is Rob Ryan.

Mickey is a pencil pusher not an architect. SP had buy into it as the missing piece also by the time the persennel planning was done for 2014.

This is all Rob and his hair brained dreamland defense he has in his head.

Guess what we are piling up wounded and playing players that can not handle his pipe dream.

Wow his hand is forced and the defense is scaled way back.

Results we look better the past two games than we have all year.

Fair warning to all brace yourself for stage two hair brained master plan this off season.

PS keep a close check list on all defensive picks, he too is responsible for each ever one. each round he picks a player that he believes will help. SP does the same on offense. they hash it out with Micky riding shoot gun.

Rob Ryan doesn't pick our players during the draft.

Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees

So you are saying players are picked and Rob is told to make it work? come on now.

If so that would explain a lot. This is why the players do not fit his system and he has no say so in how to go about building the defense he wants to install here. In other words he has no say so in the bricks he is using.

Then i am totally wrong about Rob and I feel sorry for him.

sorry i can not buy into that one bit.

he makes his case in each round for the players he wants from all the scouting reports and scout meetings ahead of time.

what players he gets from his big board and when they are picked is out of his hands but the list is his non the less

That's exactly how it works; I'm sure Rob has a little input but ultimately it's a Payton/Loomis decision...

I very much doubt Rob asked for Fortt and Powell.

Re: Saints thinking about life after Drew Brees

Payton/Loomis yes have the final say so i agree.

Loomis is a pencil pusher that is well known.

SP evaluates the offense talent being the OC

Rob has list and his input as DC

If the pick goes offense or defense on the big board is out of robs hands.

BUT the list of defensive players and where they fall on the big board is all ROB. he fights for placement and states his case for the player he wants as the draft goes on.

sorry no way are the saints operating totally different than every other team in the NFL

TEAMS do not pick players and tell coordinators to make it work.

Fortt and Powell are Robs boys

SP decides on the final pick and Mickey rubber stamps it.
