Saints | Brooks to Have Surgery - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
18:43 PT: The New Orleans Saints have announced QB Aaron Brooks (shoulder) will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on the 17th of January to re-attach the Infraspinatus tendon in his right shoulder. "After seeking a second opinion, Aaron will have the procedure and our plan is to have him back to full health by our first minicamp," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager of Football Operations Mickey Loomis

It looks like Brooks was ailing at the end of the season. I wonder what Haz will say about this situation now.

Brooks to Have Surgery

The fans pressured Brooks into it .

He said he was alright .

First I have heard of it .

Did not want to spoil our chances of winning .

Pick one mindless single sentenance and that will be it .

The actual press release is :

The Saints said Brooks\' injury did not hurt his throwing motion enough to keep him out of the lineup.

``He obviously had some discomfort immediately following the injury, but Aaron demonstrated good range of motion and good overall shoulder strength over the balance of the regular season,\'\' Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Tuesday.

Alright Gator ,

The first 4 are similar to the mindless babble that sometimes spews from Haslett in answer to questions .

The actual release is what Loomis said so that we did not have to hear Haslett spew one of those prescripted answers .

Who is it that wants to leave that we wanna keep? Turley? I like Kyle, but he sure got beat alot this year. Jerry is old...I hear he wants to retire. Other than those two, to hell with \'em all...especially any of \'em on defense.

I still say that Knight is one of the best safties in football. In the right system with some help (which we know he got none of this year) he\'s definitely one of the best around. Zook knew how to use him properly, Venturi doesn\'t. I don\'t really want to see him go, but he probably will. If we\'re going to get rid of a safety, get rid of Bellamy. He\'s average.

ESPN Insider reports :

Brooks\' injury could pay off for Delhomme

The New Orleans Saints announced starting quarterback Aaron Brooks will undergo arthroscopic surgery Jan. 17 to re-attach a tendon in his throwing shoulder. Brooks sustained the injury late in the first half of the Saints\' 23-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Dec. 1.

And the news was music to Rick Smith\'s ears. Smith is the agent for Brooks\' backup Jake Delhomme, who is an unrestricted free agent. The team signed Delhomme to a $563,000 one-year tender in May of last year, and now Delhomme is on the free market. But his value to the Saints just went up dramatically.

Brooks, who signed a six-year, $36 million contract the day before the season opener, is supposed to be healthy by the start of training camp in May, or so says head coach Jim Haslett. But this is a man that will swear up and down that the injury was in no way responsible for Brooks\' erratic play in the final weeks of the season.

Brooks completed 56.8 percent of his passes and averaged 239.0 passing yards a game in the first 11½ games, but connected on only 44.6 percent of his throws while averaging 183.1 yards in the 4½ games after the injury.

Without knowing how the injury will affect him in the future, the Saints need to secure Delhomme, who has been with the team since 1999. Beyond Delhomme, the only other quarterback on the roster is J.T. O\'Sullivan, who was drafted in the sixth round last year.

But getting Delhomme back won\'t be a snap. As a restricted free agent last season, he drew interest from the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. Neither one of those teams will give him the chance to start, but the Packers definitely want a better solution at backup than the aging Doug Pederson.

Delhomme, a Louisiana native, will probably stay in the Bayou, but thanks to Brooks\' injury and the likely interest of a few teams, he\'s likely to get a better deal than most originally thought.

Haslett speaks :

\"The organization, myself and Aaron were aware of the injury the whole time,\" Haslett said. \"It didn\'t affect his throwing motion, and he was able to play with the injury.\"

Either that or get a real Head Coach .

One with Superbowl experience , an eye for talent and the knowledge of how to stop a team from sliding and can put together a fully accredited staff .

HBO sports reports:
Rumor has it Jake Delhomme is the quarterback that Bill Parcels has is eye on to start in Dallas next year .
