I'll take the Legion of Whom over No Rhythm and Booed anyday.

Until last night the Saints had a total of 8 picks on the year. The three last night accounted for just under a 50% increase. Even though it is Da Bears, there is something to be said about new blood. Opposing coordinators and QB's can't learn much about tendencies by watching game film. Players on the field for the first nine games aren't there, or are playing different positions.

It's much like when a starting QB is struggling and goes down and the back up comes in and lights up the D.

It's all about what teams prepare for. It looks like the current D lineup is new enough to be somewhat of an unknown. Let's hope we can pick up a few more "W"s before opposing teams start to figure our new D out.

No ones said it yet - Nice job Rob Ryan. That was a creative defense last night.

Agree. When they play like garbage RR is a POS coordinator. Last night the new guys played great and was no mention of RR. Maybe RR was just dealt a bad hand this year and he was playing the cards he had. Last night they shuffled the deck and felt him a better hand.

Anyone remember those games where our D made the opposing O look great. Or our O making an opposing D look much better than they are. The Bears game was a pityful effert on their part. Their O is in turmoil and their D well no where even close or even resembles the '85 Bears. What we played last night was a really bad team that made us look great. Now on the flipside I finally saw gang tackling, running to the ball on the D's side. On the O, much more crisp routes. When we play more of how we played last night(atually fundamentally sound football) on a consistant level(way more lows than highs this season to even mention) then I'll buy in to a good team thing. Also I never, ever, saw Hawthorn play as well as he did last night in a true 3-4 look. Jr. may not fit a 3-4 but looks good as a situational pass rusher( thats a lot of money for a 1 trick pony). All in all it was a needed win and a clean victory even if the Bears stink.

And who know Hawthorne could rush the passer up the middle like that? We should do it more often.

I really liked what I saw from frederick too. He played tough solid defense. If he can hold up at the 2nd cornerback position and warren/samford can handle the safety duties, I would love to see white, robinson and vacarro man the slot/nickel back position. Particularly, I would like to see vacarro play more in the linebacker/nickel back role. For whatever reason he has been terrible playing 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage this year.

It seems like Vacarro is a better man defender then a zone defender. He also doesn't have great play recognition or awareness. You need them both to be a great zone player. He seems best suited locking up and following his guy.

Nailed it. That's why I liked what you said last night about next season using Byrd and Warren as zone safeties and Vacarro doing what he did last night.
