Also 89 most frustrating... Like this season...we were not terrible. No, just the oposite - like this team... with Herbert and Hilliard; Mills, Swilling, Jackson, and Johnson but just could not quit imploding much like this team. WHAT THE HELL was the problem in 2014? |
Re: Where Does The 2014 Team Rank in Saints History Suckage?
The other Saints team that sucked were better to cheer for. Saints teams always hustle and show heart. This team showed no fight. I think JG is a cancer. He makes a boat load of $ but won't block and doesn't break many tackles vs DBs he often outweighs by 50+ lbs. Not to mention the many passes he either short arms or won't try for. Resulting in drops and INTs. I know he's good but it is an issue. Other players must be thinking,"if he doesn't fight on every play, why should I?"

This was probably the most talented team the Saints ever had. To finish so badly is definitely one of the worst seasons we've ever seen. But you're sorta right... Without factoring expectations and talent, not even close to top 10 worst. If you do factor in expectations and talent, easily the worst ever. |
Re: Where Does The 2014 Team Rank in Saints History Suckage?
I think my hopes fell further with this team than any other. I for one am not trying to define worst - just most disappointing.
Yes, far worse Saints squads have been easier to cheer for. Even the 99 saints and the 80 saints were at least fun to cheer for. Maybe I had an underdog chip on my shoulder in those days. Even though it was embarrassing it was still fun to watch. These days the dynasty word was thrown around - until this season and that is just embarrassing for all the wrong reasons. I actually dread the last game. |

And Big Deal if Brees gets another 5000 yd season. Proving that statistics are indeed for the LOSERS! Where are those replacement players?

Re: Where Does The 2014 Team Rank in Saints History Suckage?
I think because of last years success and the fact that we only upgraded at every position (other than CB) expectations were sky high
So when our team blew games in every which way, its easy to see why we are staring at 6-10 in the face, not comforting but very easy to see why. 2009-2011 found ways to win 2014 saints somehow found ways to lose. |
Re: Where Does The 2014 Team Rank in Saints History Suckage?
All things considered this is the WORST team ever in the history of the franchise. Before Benson all teams sucked and aren't part of this conversation due to crappy ownership. Since Benson, this is the worst team. Sure Mora crapped out in the playoffs so those are in the top 10 but this 2014 team takes the prize. No heart, no desire, let other teams run, throw and take their lunch money pretty much every week accept a couple of games this year. Pick an area and most of the year they played like crap. Offense, Defense, ST's, coaching all were just a buzz kill.
Congratulations 2014 Saints...you are the recipients of the Worst Saints Team in History. |
Re: Where Does The 2014 Team Rank in Saints History Suckage?
I feel like some people are acting like this year was some kind of strange new thing or a freak deviation for the Saints.... But if you honestly look at 2012 to now? Other than a brief win streak in early 2013 where the Saints got hot for a handful of games, this club has been playing .500-ish ball straight through from 2012 right to now. The only difference between 2014 and the abysmal year of 2012, was that this year you didn't have the lack of Sean Payton on the sidelines to be the excuse for it. (Which turned out to maybe not be as much of a difference maker as we all thought? But that's probably a topic for another thread.)
But from the eyeball test, hey, it's basically the same exact team, folks, that sucked in 2012 and then struggled and dropped a bunch of games later in 2013 after the bye; it's all the same as this year, too. Other than that short win streak in early 2012 when Payton was hot, and a very good game in Philly in the playoffs last year, it all looks exactly the same to me. More often than not, during the past three years the Saints are playing .500 ball, on a typical normal day at the office. |
