Agent's Take: The five teams with the worst salary cap situations - CBSSports.com
Guess who tops the list?!? And don't expect me to be among the fans who suck the tailpipe or drink the Kool-AidŽ singing 'In Loomis We Trust'... This has been terrible, terrible cap management... |

Re: 2015 NFL Free Agency
Have to agree. Sure Loomis is a wizard in his own way, but he cant keep handing out these ridiculous contracts. JR most notable.
Although to his credit everyone we give a big payday, declines signicantly after (Colston, evans, graham, byrd, gallete & drew) Drew's poor play can tie to bad O line play though. |

Re: 2015 NFL Free Agency
About all I would look for in FA is a #2CB to compliment Lewis and Byrd to set the backfield and some O-line and DL depth. I really think we get those front lines fixed thru the draft along with a ILB we're good to go.

I defend some of tgese guys because they have paid off in the past but now we may need to cut them. As far as the cap goes...lol.. people thought we were dead in the water last year and we signed the biggest FA out there. |

Plus, if you had actually read the article you just linked, it won't be hard at all to get under the cap and still manage to sign a few free agents at minimal loss to the roster. Too much overreactions on this forum right now. If we have the same kind of listless blah season and miss the playoffs again next year, then maybe it's time to get upset. It's very possible that this just wasn't our year and we need to suck it up and deal. |

With that being said, jimmy earned his contract, but we knew it would stretch us financially, & then we went & signed byrd to a hefty contract no one thought we could, which we really cant, but i LOVED the signing. JR's was just bad, but thats just my opinion. Wasnt saying evans or colston were bad. & i hope that it wasnt taken as if i thought their contracts were bad, i only meant to Loomis' credit, like i stated, is that the play of those players fell off signicantly one time or another & it can be perceived to look bad on him. Evans & colston have in fact been on the decline these past couple of years though. |

Cant keep backloading or pushing it off til the next year. Its gonna eventually come back to bite us & thats what we "may" see happen if we dont have a quick turnaround & make the right moves this offseason. & as i stated in other posts, im hoping emotion/loyalty doesnt outweigh the need to make certain changes with longtime faces(evans, colston) or players that arent cutting it(Hawthorne, Bunkley, etc)
If we can restructure colston im good with that, but im in the bunch that believe its time to move on from Jahri. Wish him all the best though, thanks JE! Erik Lorig looks to be very expendable with Austin Johnson here. Lorig's run blocking seemed no better than average & Johnson well outperformed him in pass catching as well. Doesnt save us much tho, around 300k. |

Re: 2015 NFL Free Agency
Restructuring Brees and Galette's contracts and cutting Evans puts us 7 million under the cap. Just like that. I don't get why everybody's got their panties all in a wad about the salary cap AGAIN. We should all know better by now.
