i am starting to believe this was the front office pick myself. Rob had his input and sp had his input and the front office handed in the card. this might be a player personnel pick and by hell and high water he aint seeing the field.

yep gotta an unofficial response on this topic. 90+% of the picks are coach driven with the saints. but ever now and then the front office does go out and gets the player it wants encase of a three way tie.

SJB was and still is a project. at times he defends like a WR trying to prevent an interception. gives up the wrong positioning. but in no way can he be this bad that street walkers are playing and he is in street clothes.

there is more to this than they are saying.

If there is not more to this then heads in the scouting department need to roll along with whoever made this pick. this would rank up their with some of the worse picks the saints have ever made. they better not be trying to make a FS out him. Because i think Warren has the developmental roll player just about sewn up.

i believe we are not getting the whole story here.

Kid is what, 22? That's a lot to throw at someone so young, but what he needs to do is focus on himself. Looks like this should make him hungry and make him want to work on his technique.

Hey can we convert him back to a wideout? He's huge, I like big wideouts.

Has happened to me in the corporate world. Wouldn't be surprised. If the person immediately managing you didn't want you, but the people above did, look out. You end up in a silent power struggle you knew nothing about and you feel lost, lmao!

I hope this was just an issue with the DB coach and not a broader view of Payton's organization.

i agree but in no way should the defense get to add so many players. offense first and if there is room at the table later defense can have the scraps.

Disagree a bit Hagan. The offense needs O-line interior upgrades which typically are cheaper than most other positions.

The defense needs a #2 CB, OLB (2) and D-Line.

Cap wise, I'd estimate the upgrades need to be about 60% Defense, 40% Offense.

I kinda hope so...I've soured on the SJB-thing. There is something behind the scenes with this kid we ain't seeing.

There must be something going on, the kid can't make more mistakes than any of the other people we put in.

Hope we get something out of him or for him, because you know he'll go to another team and end up in the pro-bowl.

Agree with your disagreement except to add 1 more for Defense (interior Linebacking). Don't you think our ILBs are unable to stop the run?

Tackles are made downfield, not in the hole. When they try to stop a run in the hole, they instead run right into the trash.

Hawthorne is surely gone, but Lofton's tackle numbers mislead but don't obscure the fact our run defense is at bottom of the league. Any run defense doing so poorly should look at MLB/ILBs (and/or NT/DL).

This is what bugs me. This guy was not a project. The FO does not know what they are doing. Pre-season has become little more than filler now. It's no longer a needed thing. The lockout should have told you that. Some people just play well in the regular season and not care in the pre-season. I remember our 2006 pre-season being abysmal yet we looked better in the regular season.

Also, some people on here need to realize a name when they see it. There is no more "grooming", these college players are mostly ready to play if they are playing for a school that has been produced talent such as SUH. I'm kind of getting tired of this.
