"I'd love to be a Saint," Ingram said. "But it's a business. So we'll see what happens, see what they're talking about in the front office and just go from there." The market value of NFL running backs has fallen in recent years, but Ingram is only 25 and presumably has plenty of mileage left on his legs. The Saints aren't known for spending big money on backs, and they've developed inexpensive options like undrafted free agent Khiry Robinson. "But it's a business" is always code for I'm taking the contract with the most guaranteed money. And the NFL is a sport where players' careers end suddenly, so I cannot fault him for that.

He's been unhappy in a time share, he's been labeled a bust for the draft pick investment, and he's had his flareups with Coach Payton...
Don't see him returning if all things are equal with other suitors... |
