In many states (not sure about LA), if the police are called out on a domestic abuse call they are required to make an arrest, even with little or no evidence. This policy is meant to diffuse the situation before it escalates any further.

Many women take advantage of this, as saintfan has pointed out in previous posts. Unfortunately, it is part of many a divorcing woman's playbook to erroneously make domestic dispute calls in an effort to have their spouses arrested. Mine tried it a few times until I convinced the arresting officers that seeing as how there were no signs of an altercation and she was the one making the calls that maybe she should be the one taken into custody. Worked out well, never had another incident after that, .

Doesn't seem like that's the case with JG's situation though, .
