No doubt. But just because a person is intelligent and knows basically what makes up the human body and watched enough educational television to know some basics on how to remove an appendix, I would rather leave that to the experts and trust their opinion on whether or not removal is warranted.

By the way, I am a sports information geek and I would never propose that I would ever be able to know what is going on with any operation without being on the inside on a day to day basis.

Well considering first that football isn't rocket science except for maybe certain members of sports management (i.e. Matt Millen)...

But common laypersons never will have the opportunity to work in sports management as many positions are filled either by nepotism or political correctness...

Listen to Matt Millen and Rick Venturi and you have to have to be impressed. Rick Venturi is 2-17 as a head coach. We know about Matt Millen as a GM.

I really can't agree that we were without veteran leadership on either side of the ball. If Brees, Colston, Thomas, Evans, Strief, Grubbs, Goodwin, Meachem, Watson, etc. is not enough quality mature people then I don't know what is. I would say we have a more veteran core on offense than close to any team in the league. There is zero excuse for our offense lacking leadership.

On defense yes we lost Harper and Jenkins, but we still had Lofton, Hawthorne, Haralyson, Bunkley, Lewis, and the acquisition of Byrd as vets. Jordan strikes me as a mature guy as does Bush and Robinson.

There are only a handful of players I would assume require veteran mentoring to not go off track and I too would have thought we had it in place and a strong enough locker room to deal with that.

I have to admit, I am in the same boat as the team appears to be. I can see what is wrong, I just don't know what the magic missing piece is. Perhaps it is simply understanding that the whole organization drank the kool aid and we are a 7-9 team who needs plain and simple effort, dedication and execution to be better than that.

They should just go back to the bounty. They were more productive then.

As someone who plays fantasy sports, its pretty easy to see how many personnel problems there really are.

Its a fan forum. What do you want? everyone to mindlessly cheer at everything? That would be fun and interesting to read.

It is a place where people talk, vent and sometimes learn.

What, though, do snide judgments achieve?

I just use a long stick when patting myself on the back.
