According to Roger Goodell, he talked to Tom Benson just a "couple of days ago" and he "seemed fine to him", "was in complete control, energetic" and "asked about league issues."

As for 87 year-olds, I have known quite a few that are very cognizant. My great-grandfather was in his 90's when we sat watching Armstrong step foot on the moon. He told me a very detailed story of driving to North Carolina from South Dakota and meeting the Wright brothers as they were preparing their first flight. Benson works six days a week. That is proven to keep a mind sharp even while the body ages. You do not become as successful as Benson without being very intelligent. He knows he is likely in his end years and also knows that Rita is not the answer. I fully trust his judgement. |
