I think people/scouts are falling for McKinneys measurable.

I always worry about players who start rising upbdraft boards after December. Teams/scouts start falling for measurables and what players do in shorts and vests than what they produced on the field. I dont care if the OLB can run .10 quicker than another in shorts. I want to see what he does in the 4th quarter after a 45 minute struggle against a big OT with his cleats, pads and helmet on.

Ill still be watching the combine though

As a Mississippi State fan, I love the idea of having Bernadrick McKinney. I think he will be an above average LB for a number of years in the NFL. However, like someone mentioned earlier, we don't need him in the first. It would be nice if the Saints were stacked enough to be able to do that but we need so many other positions than ILB.

Also love Vic Beasley but not what we need. Can anyone answer why we would want Marcus Peters over Trae Waynes? Watched a little tape on both and Trae Waynes seems more consistent.

As always we will address needs during free agency allowing us to draft the best player on our board.

You should never plan on a draft pick filling a hole as a starter.

We can never count on players we sign in free agency being a decent starter either.

True but the combine is a mental process & the NFL is highly stressful. By the time you and I see it on tv (position drills, 40 time, cone exercise) these kids are already mentally exhausted. Teams want to see how you handle pressure. Top tier run organizations aren't just looking at a kids measurables/physical upside, but more at consistency.

I always believe that game film/tape is the best evaluation tool there is but agreed, I will be watching the combine as well ;)

I don't know much about his measurables. This is purely off of watching the kid play. He was all over the place for that team running from sideline to sideline. He showed the speed to keep up with and outrun running backs and receivers. I like him a lot.

Yeah, he's been doing a good clean up job though. Dude is raw.
