What if 5 O lineman are picked before us?

And why would we trade up for Perryman when we could grab Paul Dawson in round 2?

Address O line in FA. Keep your draft picks to add youth, speed and energy to the defense.

I believe that we will add a FA center. That move alone will help solidify our O-line. Grubbs is the weak link and needs to be replaced but we could get by if necessary. We could get a good back up to develop later in the draft. However, I would not be against spending our first round pick on a guard to protect Drew for his last few years.

The thing is we need several new starters on defense and there are good matches for the Saints in this draft. I do worry about taking two LB'ers in the same draft back to back because we haven't been good at developing them. I am also afraid to draft and develop a CB because our history drafting the position makes me cringe. It is quite the conundrum. :dunce:

Paul Dawson is more 4-3 OLB than 3-4

I would love to take Vic Beasley if he could stop the run, and we already have that in junior we need dual threat

For ILB nfl mock drafts, at least a few have Denzel Perryman, Eric Kendrick's, Stephone Antony & P. Dawson going in the first Stephone Anthony is starting to grow on me between him & Denzel would be my ILb

Our LB group is weak. Two LBs that can cover would be big improvement.

Agreed, get one in free agency and the other in the draft

The cowboys took a chance with Rolondo McClain regardless of his background, I believe he was their leading tackler this season and also had a couple of Int's

Re: Are we really going to draft a DE in round 1?

there are no 34 LB in round 1 in the this draft that does not have more than one question mark about size. after you take away hype and ceilings i would not draft an OLB in round 1 that did not carry the issues of not being able to handle teams that run right at them. Jr fills that roll already

there is only two i would consider

Shaq Thompson - but i see him as an upgrade to kenny
Benardrick McKinney - true 34 run stuffing ILB
rest of my short list

La'el Collins OT - solves so many issues. position and if needed cap
DeVante Parker WR - some of the vest hands in the draft
Trae Waynes CB - top 3 CB of the draft
Malcom Brown NT - top 3 at DT
Melvin Gordon RB - everything Mark was not then some
Marcus Peters CB - what if he nails the interview then what?

ONLY ONE DE almost made my list and still has major hype and upside all over him just like all the others. but he wins out based on having truly the most "freakish athleticism" of the group and might just have the most upside. plus motor issues have never come up.

Freak of the draft

Arik Armstead DE Oregon

But why draft him? when:

DeForest Buckner Oregon can be had later and is more devloped

We might need an edge rusher if we lose Junior for any length of time... And it's starting to look like that'll be the case with the civil suit filed against him today.

"She cites an instance in which she was given a liquid she calls "horny juice," which made her lose consciousness. She said that a member of the Saints team, whom is identified only as "Player A," repeatedly touched her genitals. That, she asserts, is sexual battery, a felony, according to the lawsuit.

Five other Saints team members witnessed the incident "and knowingly participated in this humiliating and illegal behavior," according to the lawsuit. She assigns alphabetical letters to each of the players in lieu of naming them."

That "other saints players" scares me more than possible Galette suspension.

Doesn't matter in the eyes of the NFL... Not in the current climate of the NFL. We need to be prepared for Junior's suspension.

The way the NFL deal with these things is a joke. Look at Hardy and the Panthers, sits a year. The team has to pay him as he is under the tag and now a year on has no case to answer in court. Yet the panthers couldn't use him for a year and end up the looser

I'm thinking La' El Collins or Brandon Scherf at 13. If both are gone then OLB or DE is what I'm thinking. We will get our CB in round 2.

So would you see this 2nd round CB sit the bench all year too?

Armstead according to this expert... that's about 9 different names now...someone's got to be right

Well it sounds like Gregory is off the board and Shane Ray has a foot issue though they are now saying no surgery. You can also forget Peters and Green-Beckham by the latest insiders info leaked

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis amassed an extra first-round pick later in this draft when he traded tight end Jimmy Graham to the Seahawks for the 31st overall pick and center Max Unger, a move that seemed to signal a changing of the guards in New Orleans. Loomis has said that in 2015 the formerly high-flying Saints will rely more on a balanced offensive attack and a better defense, and the latter is much-needed. Armstead would be a very compelling fit in Rob Ryan's defense, because he's a huge lineman (6’7”, 292 pounds) who can play multiple positions with great athleticism. He's young and raw, but as the Saints may not be competing for a division title anytime soon, it's as good a time as any to develop some seriously talented players. Armstead would certainly qualify.

Uhh say what?

Makes just about as much sense as drafting at 13 a RB out of Alabama...

Smash, I might be wrong, but I think Danno is referring to their reasoning... cause that made no sense to me

In no particular order we are going to get better on Defense, Offense and ST's. How's that for a draft projection?

Yeah because the Saints aren't planning to really compete this year. This gives them extra time to develop talent from this draft.

Lol! Did that guy really insinuate that?!
