Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
Go watch some games from last year, I formed that opinion with my eyes but I seem to recall tons of pressure coming from the right tackle side of the line when it wasn't coming from up the middle

Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
I'm in the middle with the Ingram deal, so 4 mil sounds alright, especially when a older Gore got more-wow.
Ingram had his best year, and made the pro-bowl (by default). Hopefully his development we saw last year continues into this year and the love grows. |
Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
Strief's liability, which is a big one in our system, is when he gets out in space and has to be mobile (i.e. screens)...
But he's a big, long guy that can make pass rushers run a wider arc allowing Brees to move up into a pocket (when it's not uncomfortable for him to do so)... That is why we spend the money on the interior linemen... Strief isn't going to go high on draft boards, but he's very effective in how Payton cues his role up and masks his liabilities... Only time I recall Strief struggling with a pass rusher in the last two years was against Seattle, who's real strength is its waves of pass rushers, and 49ers Ahmad Brooks, who's hit on Brees was like something out of a slo-mo slasher movie... |

Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
Mark Ingram's four-year, $16 million deal contains $7.6 million guaranteed and a $3.6 million signing bonus.
The base salaries are $1 million (2015), $3 million (2016 and 2017), and $4 million (2018). His salaries in 2015 and 2016 are both fully guaranteed. As the salaries never become bloated, the contractual structure suggests the Saints intend for Ingram to play out the entire deal. With an increased commitment to the running game as 36-year-old Drew Brees shows signs of decline, Ingram will be a candidate for RB1 fantasy production for the foreseeable future. Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
Based on details gathered, Saints RB Mark Ingram's deal looks to include $7.6M in guarantees & a 2015 cap hit of just $2M.

Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
Fair deal for both sides

Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
That's an appropriate contract for a starting running back...
Nice job Chris... |
Re: Mark Ingram Re-signs with Saints
A 2 down running back, way overpaid

Granted C J Spiller or Darren McFadden could come in and blow Ingram away... but those are unknowns and what they'd accomplish or not is unknown... we aren't exactly in the position to risk more dead cap money on unknowns at RB... Has Ingram validated his trade/draft selection? Hell, no...Even Roll Tide fans will reluctantly admit that argument, but... That's not on him, that's on the Saints Draft Selection Management... What's on Ingram is to come to practice with 100% effort and attitude, put in the film and weight room plus-time needed to continually improve, and to play lights out giving all effort and ability to his teammates, coaches and Saints fans on game day... It's not a lights out signing, but it's a good signing for a starting running back entering his prime... My only concern is the contract year question... But that's between Roll Tide and God... I'm gonna give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he wants to win championships for his accomplishments and for New Orleans Saints fans... |
