Re: Jeff Ireland's latest results in Miami
Yeah, we're all confusing Ireland the GM with Ireland the Scout.
He became a GM because he excelled as a scout. |

Re: Jeff Ireland's latest results in Miami
it is a group effort when they add players. some times you win and get your guy other times you do not.
the blame should be shared more than these reporters like to do. very few players are one mans guy. |
Re: Jeff Ireland's latest results in Miami
He won't be the GM here, his job is to find defensive talent to draft

Re: Jeff Ireland's latest results in Miami
Wheeler has been a great linebacker for them as was Ellerbe...
The current regime in Miami is about to pay SUH quarterback money (16+ mil per year)... Actually, those were pretty good signings and Miami has made noise the past two seasons while they developed a very young quarterback... Yeah, Ireland is brash and bold and many people didn't like it when he asked Dez Bryant about his mother's vocation... Now whether you like that or not, it indicated there were some problems there early on about Bryant and he was right... He's gonna dig and I think we'll be better with him there, maybe if we'd had him this past year's draft wouldn't have been an unmitigated disaster... He was more the victim of injuries and questionalble coaching... The only signing I'd say didn't work in Miami was Mike Wallace and that kid just wanted to continue to run streaks down the field as he had done in Pittsburgh and didn't develop... That's as much of coaching and player initiative as anything... |

Well, it's not like Loomis/Payton has been stellar annually in the draft... Point of fact, I've argued ad nauseum that the Saints are horrible when it comes to draft management... Maybe he's the straw we need in the draft room... Quote:
...sometimes getting all your guys and not having a "straw to stir the coctail" is not a good thing, we've lacked serious balance... ...last year's draft of unnecessarily giving up a third round pick when we could've stood pat and selected either State's Kelvin Benjamin who flourished even with Cam Newton chucking to him or Vandy's Jordan Matthews with the Eagle's messy QB situation still as productive... And we'd still had a third round pick for a LINEBACKER!!! Quote:
