Or inside linebacker?

The signs are here folks. We are completely revamping the entire defense. It may seem harsh now, but its time to get younger and faster. Yes I understand the importance of Veteran leadership but we still have guys in place to make it happen. WHODAT!

Lofton's a great guy and his professionalism will be missed, but it's time to usher in the Mason Foster and Stephone Anthony era at ILB!

The Patriots have veterans. Usually 1-2 on the d line, 1 CB, 1 LB. The rest is youth.

Will need a roster list this season to figure out Who Dat players that we are rooting for.

just pick a tape guys, lofton got owned 75% of the time in running sits. he was always to late to fill the gap, or nowhere to be seen on passing plays, I know he played his heart out hurt, just the game went by him. pushing rbs out of bounds 8-9 yards pass the line. we need speed to the outside ...... not all his fault with the interior line getting handled when tired.

Doubt this. He will restructure I'm sure. Not believing we will go into the season with 2 starting ILB's that were not on the roster last year. He is depth at least.

O.K. I've got to agree with Danno on the 3-4 D. Lofton was the D's captain, calling plays and sets. He was the staple. I don't know who we will draft and who we might get as FA at the lb. positions but with Gallette, Ediboli, Harrelson, Powell, Hawthorn, Knox and Humber I expect 4 maybe 5 of those guys to make it, that leaves 3 or 4 more lb.'s that will have to be picked up to make a total of 8 in a 3-4 set. I look for the Saints to draft at least 1 or 2 and pick up 1 or 2 as FA. Also looking at the front 3 I wouldn't be suprized to see the heavy guys that can occupy multiple blockers stay and the lighter guys go. I sill believe we get another NT in the draft.

Looking through the FA ILB this morning and not msny three down types there. Mason is the standout.

I cant see Rex letting him get away after not getting Harris but what about Spikes?.
I know he is best as a 2 down guy but he is good against the run.

Id be very wary of giving McClain either a prominent role leading thr defense or a multiyear deal.

Id really like to pick up a pair of ILB in the draft now.

Re: Curtis Lofton Released

The #1 ILB, Eric Kendricks will be there in the late 1st. #2/3, Benardrick McKinney and Denzel Perryman should be there when we pick in the 2nd. I really see a ILB being picked in one of the first two rds.

My hope is that Cooper falls to us at 13,the Browns decide to move up to pick back to back and give us a second rounder to move back to 19.

1)Kendricks
2)Anthony
3)OL

Curtis Lofton, Thank You...

You're signing may not have contributed to a SuperBowl, but you sure showed you were one class act, Brother...

The release would be one thing if we had a back-up plan waiting in the wings... but we have... who?

Thanks for time Lofton.
I'm not surprised with this move however. The fact that he was our strongest LB in the first place speaks volumes to the need for upgrades.

Re: Curtis Lofton Released

The Saints got three good years out of him and his contract was structured for an easy release this year. It was an amiable separation it appears. The guy is pure class. My oldest son who coaches Lofton's neighbor's child, was given a signed game jersey by Lofton himself. It is framed on his wall in Metairie.

It looks damned good and would go well with all my other Saints collection, but it was given to my son and he would never let me have it. Here it is while I had it to get it framed at the top of my Saints shrine. By the way, I lost a bet with a Seahawks fan and had to take pictures of the hat he sent me.

Lofton is pure class all the way.

Halleluah, keep Gallette (unless traded), up n' comer Ediboli, solid backup Harrelson, and Powell. Draft 2, pickup 2 FA or UDFA.

Totally agree. Spikes looks intriguing. Can "only" stop the run? Yes, please. Couple of ILBs, 1 OLB, and an NT in the draft also, I hope.

I think you're brilliant. Forgot to say, I think your instincts to be wary of LB McClain (after his single good year) is wise.
