My guess is that we are still waiting for the market to play out on some of those positions so we can get a better bargain. Be patient. If the front office has showed you anything recently it's that they are spending to win. |

Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
Cook is our number 1 receiver. There's receivers in the draft to draft later. We have Kenny Stills also. And we might be able to get someone like J Strong in the third round because no one seems to be on him early.
Bottom line Brees struggled last year because he had no time to throw the ball and when he did play well it wasn't because Graham was contained allowing someone to be open. Brees has thrown into coverage plenty of times its all about the timing. |

This move had little to do with the immediate cap impact. How many star WRs did the Saints have when they won the SB?... 0 Our offense will be much better without Jimmy because Brees won't force feed him every game. Lastly, if Cooks doesn't get hurt Jimmy wouldn't have been our number 1 WR; furthermore Jimmy had the 3rd most receiving yards (Cooks doesn't get hurt he would have the 4th most). One thing I want to make clear; I am only responding to you because 80% of what you wrote was coherent. |
Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
What people don't understand(well one) is that getting Browner and Tramon helps build camaderie with the cornerbacks. Having strong talent to relate to each other is good for the team because Browner, Tramon, and Lewis can all bounce plans and ideas off each other. It also makes things a heck of a lot easier for our safeties where they can concentrate on being safeties and not having to help double someone. And we have not seen Byrd's footprints on our team yet and he is a big deal. We do what the pats did, we look down the outside receiving and have the safeties and nickle CB to focus on the middle and that plays into Byrd's strength to make some nice plays.

Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
if cook is our #1 we are in big trouble. he is not exactly what i call a possession wr type. cook is a 3 or a utility wr. then again SP never really gave him too many chances down field
i am not ruling out a wr in round 1, Parker fits the bill as a #1 WR but with solid speed. |
Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
Cooks looked good two of the three weeks before his injury and that other week was on a short week where he really wasn't needed.

Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
I still want us to draft a cb in the draft. I don't feel this moves our solution. Then again I could be wrong.

Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
browner would bring a nasty attitude
williams would add professional steady consistency go with the cheaper of the two. can not loose either way. one will get less flags though Lewis and Browner would change the entire mind set of the secondary. question is for the good? or the bad? |

Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
If we got both then i'm not sure i would draft one any higher than 5/6th rounder. Got to hope that Baptise can step up a bit this year. Last year was poor allround and it seems more and more that there were major frictions in camp that may have been part of the issue. If the vets are not helping the rookies they are going to struggle to learn.
We also have Delvin Breaux 6'1 sub 4.4 Brian Dixon 6" 4.41 I thought Dixon was really good last year when you factor in the lack of pass rush and being left out there on his own way to often. Lewis,Browner,Williams and then SJB,Breaux,Dixon is not a bad secondary at all as long especially if Byrd and Sanford play as FS/SS and Vaccaro goes back to being a pest lined up in 3 safety sets. Give that backfield a improved pass rush and we improve loads |
Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
Saw this late last night:
As of now, Brandon Browner is still set to visit the Redskins. He spent time in New Orleans today Chris Russell (@Russellmania980) Today should interesting, hopefully he doesn't make that trip because Redskins have the luxury of over paying that the Saints don't |
Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
Ian Rapoport ✔ @RapSheet
Meanwhile, #Saints made a major push to sign CB Brandon Browner yesterday, offering him more than $5M per year. Could help that locker room |
Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
Damn. We offered him more than 5 million per year and he's still looking around? Sigh. I rather guarantee Lewis' contract now.

Cant blame him still looking.
Stupid monet getting offered around for cb this year. Look around and hope for another 2/3ml guaranteed |
Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
I don't blame him for looking around. He should definitely look to maximize his contract as this will probably be the last contract he signs of value. As the price rises, which if he makes it to Washington likely will happen, that just makes me lose interest. I'd hate to get in a bidding war and 5+ million is already a very fair offer. It just makes Lewis' contract look like even more of a bargain.

Re: Saints going after CB Brandon Browner
Hmmm, wonder what that means for Tramon Williams. To be honest I think Tramon is the better corner but his age just scares me a little. And the suspensions and penalties for browner scare me. I hope we have something in the contract to cover ourselves against browner getting suspended.
