Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Jeff Duncan @JeffDuncan_ 8m8 minutes ago
Yep. MT @AdamHBeasley: A source told me that Brees was not happy w/either Ben Grubbs or Kenny Stills. No coincidence that they're both gone. Are we getting ready for life without him? Trying to build great defense,RB heavy lets you bring in a younger player without putting the pressure on him. Would it shock anyone if a team like Tampa/Browns made the offer? Is there a dislike button for your own posts? I read that tweet as Drew not happy with trades *read slower Lee |
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Nothing would surprise me anymore with the way things have been going so far in free agency.

No i'd say this has more to do with recognizing we did not protect him last year and our greatest success comes in doig that, never mind play action. Holy ****, how will teams deal with Mark, Khiry, and CJ? |
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Hell Drew was mad when we let Nicks go and that blame was on him.
|
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
No Drew will be here for a while.

Just crossed my mind reading the post and having read rumours last few days. Interesting times ahead.Brett Hundley in the draft maybe?

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Considering how bad our D was and that 2014 was one of Brees' better, statistical speaking, you can't say that his performance has peaked. Surround him with the right people he's good for a several more years.
It appears that Loomis strayed from the winning recipe he espoused back in 2010 when he said "We felt like character was even more important for our team". Seems that they may be trying to get back to basics. Knowing Saints fans, if Loomis/Payton were to trade Brees they best make the announcement from another state....or planet....and plan on staying there. |
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
This may have been answered already on another thread!
If Brees went, who do you think would replace him????? |
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
The number 1 pick next year
|
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
That tweet confirms that Brees is going nowhere for a long time.

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Anyone watched this kid last year?
Sounds a interesting player to watch next year, good completion percentage, great yards and hardly any turnovers. Cant find any clips on youtube so will have to have a watch next year Jonathan Goff, QB, California Height: 6-4. Weight: 210. Projected 40 Time: 4.69. Projected Round (2016): 1-3. 2/8/14: Goff enjoyed a breakout 2014 season. The sophomore completed 62 percent of his passes for 3,973 yards with 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Goff displayed real pocket-passing potential while playing with a less-than-ideal supporting cast. He became the starter as a freshman in 2013 and completed 60 percent of his passes for 3,508 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. |
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
I'm giving Brees this season.
|
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
We're making as many moves as we can to extend Brees' career a few more years. I'd love to grab Sherrf or Collins (OT) in the 1st, and a diamond at OG later in the draft.
And frankly, I don't really care if its specifically designed for Brees because even after he retires we whould have a very capable O-line for the next Drew Brees to succeed in, whomever that may be. |

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
That kid doesn't come out of college till next year. I forgot to add that. Never seen him just looking who else other than Cook will be on the draft and his yards,TD totals and especially ball security stood out

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
2016 nfl draft picks are key if we want to go here with Drew.
- picks from the team we trade Drew to has to include #1 in 2016 - for extra security i would try to trade out at 31 and it would have to include a #1 in 2016 - saints would end up tanking the season. 3 #1s and then i can say we are ready to make the move. Connor Cook - is the only QB i would be tempted to gamble on 2017 has some interesting prospect but that is too far out IMO |

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Drew's replacement won't declare until next year. Who that is I don't know but I don't think his replacement is in this years draft. He may already be on another teams PS for all I know. Sean Payton has probably been following several players closely the past couple of years.

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
I will bet anyone here that Drew Brees will be the Saints starting QB past the 2016 season. Any takers? A $50 donation to the winner's (me) favorite charity by the loser (you).
Well? |

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
I wouldn't be shocked but i do think the front office are getting the team to the point it can go without him if he either falls off a cliff/Injured or somebody offers something far too good to turn down
|
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
As they say Drew brings fans to the seats, that's business and that affects the bottom line. Don't see him heading out for a while.

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
All im gonna say is, if anyone remembers, where did that report come from mid-season about the Saints taking a QB high in this years draft to be Drew's successor? I believe Ian Rapoport broke that story. Couldnt have just been coincidence.
Lol it made me laugh the other day when someone said "we only had colston & cooks, what are we going to do? Just throw slants & quick screens?" I immediately thought Marcus Mariota haha. I dont think i could hate the pick just dont wanna trade or pass on a OG, Defensive player or WR. Way too high to draft a successor but id love to see Mariota sit behind drew 2-3 years. We'd be set. Rare to have an elite QB, hard to think of life after drew...heres to at least 3 more years! Ha |

... this place has started to stink of SR.com |
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
SR atm is actually pretty calm.

Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
Yes, run the ball on every play. Everyone knows you don't need a "great" QB to win! Ask Phoenix and Cleveland. With the RB's we have anyone can play QB ! No pressure at all!!
|
Re: Are we getting ready for life without Drew?
I think it would only be smart to do so. He is getting older and his time, like it or not, is coming to an end. If we want to continue to be contenders year in year out you have to plan ahead. He will play until he calls it quits Im sure, but it wont be long now. My guess is 2 more seasons.
