Saints initially offered two wide receivers to Seattle before trading Jimmy Graham

When Saints general manager Mickey Loomis opened up trade discussions with Seahawks general manager John Schneider, he initially brought up the names of two of his wide receivers and said no one was off limits.

According to TheMMQB.com’s Peter King, Schneider said he then broached the topic of Jimmy Graham and eventually the two parties agreed on the trade that sent Graham and a fourth-round pick to Seattle in exchange for center Max Unger and a first-round pick.

Schneider was initially weary of surrendering the pick, but he told King his team only has first-round grades on 16 players. So, with Seattle picking 31st, he felt he was essentially surrendering a second rounder.

Steal for graham

Should have been an allpro lineman, a second starter and a #1

And not to an NFC arc nemesis

You would never get that.
If teams were willing to pay a kings ransom they would have last year when they could have had him for 2 1sts.

This scares me. If he willing to give up 2 wr that mean he might be targeting one in this draft. Hopefully, this false

Why?.
If Scherff/Collins and the best pass rushers are off the board the BPA is likely to be a WR. As much as id like to move back if that happens you cant guarantee getting the right offer.

Center Max Unger was the man SP wanted at all cost. we went after him knowing we would lose some trade leverage yet we went ahead anyways.

Max Unger is the keystone to this entire rebuilding thing SP is trying to do. on and off the field.

Now we all can see the whole picture.

Litto shows promise but he is not an Unger. Litto maybe better off at OG down the road. heck he may not figure into the equation in a year or two also. time will tell on this one

that could happen very easily. like the write up said it is a top heavy class. look for a run on CB and OT by the time we pick at 44. there is going to be some reaching done early and often also. i think this years rating of players is a bit screwed up because of it.

31 if you want a 2nd/3rd tier type of player we better take them then. i see a lot over hype and people pushing the ceilings pretty high on players. Both QB are a great example. Winston? watched almost all of his games this year. I do not get it. he threw a ton of INT that were his fault and his fault alone. open WR and no rush. yet blew the throw. reminds me of Arron Brooks

1st round talent is top heavy then there is a pretty good drop off in talents. but it does seem to carry pretty well for the next couple of rounds.

that is why i would not care if we trade back and stash a pick or two for 2016. or do some swapping and moving up in later rounds. pick up a player or two like the last time SP went on an overhaul rampage. i would not be surprised to see him to do some of that during the draft. worked last time pretty darn good.

if Scherff/Collins is a pick and i was Evans i would get a bit nervous. bills in the winter? welcome home kinda thing.

I agree
I keep hearing this year WRs are deep,i dont see it. Not compared to last year anyway. There seems a few players in all positions that could be great but then a load of solid players. I wish we had these picks last year. At least there are 4/5 good options at ILB even if non are as good as Mosley last year or the second coming of Ray Lewis.

Re: Saints initially offered two wide receivers to Seattle before trading Jimmy Graham

Last year's WR class could go down as the greatest ever, it ended up having 16 being drafted and having good/great production on their teams. This year's class is deep but not as good as last years, we might never see last years class again but in this passing league now, who knows. I will say that I see about 10-15 WRs that could make an impact in the NFL this year as rookies. Which means the Saints don't need to take one in round one and can address OL and LB early and draft a WR in rounds two or three and that includes tight end.

You can quote me of this: Winston will be a skinny JaMarcus Russell in the NFL.

To me the issue with a lot of the better WR in this draft after the top few are either 5'9-5'11 or have question marks in multiple areas.
