Is there anyone worth moving up for?
I think looking at the old point chart that we could package both our firsts and get up to #5 (and get a fourth rounder back in return).
I have not followed the draft much yet. Heard Mike Detiller say the value in this draft was in the 2nd-4th rounds. Anyone think there is someone worth moving up to get that will be a real impact player - especially on D? |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
hate to say it but we should only package if we can get a legit franchise type QB. I dont think there is one so I dont know.
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
I've been wondering that myself. I honestly can't say I've seen enough of some of the draft picks to really move up and get one of them. I think our current picks are at great spots where we can get guys that can help our team immediately.

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
In my opinion only Vic Beasley. We can get up to the 6th or 7th spot by just dealing our 2nd round pick. We can get to 5 by trading the 31st pick. With our propensity for trading up and now having lots of ammunition it's gonna happen... It's just a matter of for whom?
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
no; we don't need to package picks to move up. We have several holes we need to fill and can't afford to give away picks
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
We don't need NINE draft picks either....
Yes, we will package picks to move up. Only question is when. My bet is round 2 or 3 where we can find a fringe 1st or 2nd round playmaker at WR or LB still hanging around. |

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
After 7 or 8 it gets watered down quite a bit. I hope we trade up, two 1's for the Raiders 4. Get us a strong defender or WR. If we do that we still have options to move up again. Get the best we can out of the draft and put the scouts on notice to roll their sleeves up.

no way do you package 2 first round picks to move up for say Amari Cooper when you can get a starting guard and a starting LB instead... |

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
I just don't want another "project" in the first 2 rounds.
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
Just draft offensive line and linebacker as along as you can and pick the best cornerback you can grab along the way.
We have wideouts, tightends, runningbacks etc. I know we traded some receivers, but every great receiver we've ever had (Stills excluded) was a project player with raw talent - free agent or late rounds pick. Graham was one of those too. |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
Danny Shelton is the only player I would move up for but I'm not giving up anything before the fifth round. We have a shot at getting a starter at every position of need before then so I'm not "wasting" a draft pick. Especially after seeing the production from the players we've moved up in the draft for with this brain trust.

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
There is no Andrew Luck in this draft so there is no one to trade up for, keep the picks and draft BPA with each one
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
what I am wondering is could we package our 2 with our 13 to move up? We have two 3's and the second 1 is like a 2??
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
Great question. I assume you mean more than just simply 2 or 3 spots.
No, I don't think there's anyone worth moving up for. The difference between the top 5 or 6 players and the next 5 or 6 isn't worth what it would cost to move up. Stay where we are and we get a 5 star player at one of several need positions. Now that 31st pick, thats a totally different discussion. |

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
After thinking about this I want us to move up.
I realized something Atlanta did that was very underhanded. They think they have taken over after sweeping us. I also think they delibertately played with no effort against Carolina because they knew they were not going to the sb and would have a higher pick than us. They decided to end our season and throw the division. So yes I would want us to trade up in front of Atlanta and steal Vic Beasley or Shane Ray. Let's show them manipulation since their entire organization has been all about it since we won a superbowl. Also getting one of those two along with Browner, Ellerbe, Byrd, how the hell do we not have a much improved defense? I wonder if maybe Loomis and Payton figured that out. |

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
But it also means we get a five star player too. And ours>theirs because Brees>Ryan and Ingram/Spiller>Smith/whoever else they have at RB.

I say no. Use them all. But I am not a GM or the head coach.

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
Leonard Williams if he falls to 5
|
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
based on needs nope need the picks
Leonard Williams at DE would be tempting but i have the bucs taking him |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
I don't see the Titans letting this kid (Williams) slip past them at #2.
Freak like ability coming off the edge. |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
Yeah I've never even considered it an option to get Leonard Williams. Top 3 pick for sure. As long as we land Stephone Anthony with that 31st pick I'll be happy!

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
I would like to trade down in the early to mid 20's with pick 13 to pick up another 2nd. There are alot of solid players and rotational players to be had from the 20's til the 4th. This draft can be as solid as they get if we draft well.

Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
We should trade all of our draft picks for some early round picks next year and just roll with what we have. Ever been done?

I've never liked moving up much. Remember Jonathan Sullivan, anyone?

I'm telling you we'll likely move up to grab a guy we have a higher grade on who's fallen into rounds 2 or 3. For example, if Eli Harold makes it to #20-25, we should absolutely move picks to grab him before someone else does. |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
Don't forget that there are UDFAs. Which we happen to excel at.
So why NOT use our leverage this year to obtain 1-2 impact players? |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
There's only two worth trading up for and that's Vic Beasley and Brandon Scherff...
Danny Shelton should be good, but there are other defensive linemen (i.e. Davis, Goldman) grading a shade under we could select with the 31st pick... Now moving to the 4th (Raiders) or 5th pick (Redskins), should ensure Beasley, if the Titans or Jaguars don't surprise and select him... I wouldn't be surprised to see us move up and consolidate picks as we've limited salary cap room presently... |
Re: Is there anyone worth moving up for?
This is a year I am not excited about moving up for. After watching all the "EDGE" rushers and the tackles who should be guards, they all seem the same to me. There isn't a single player at a need position that stands out to me. With the lone exception being Trae Waynes.
Notice I am using 'me' as I am not some magnificent scout who sees all the little nuances of the game. All I know is I have watched football religiously for many years and this is the first year in a while that NO ONE stands out. stay put or move down, but please don't move up. |
