Darren Sharper plead guilty and is gone

It's all true with Sharper, he's gone for good now. At first some of us wanted to wait until this panned out to see if it was true. Apparently Darren was taking a page from the Bill Cosby book of dating!

9 years just from Arizona with 4 more states to go... He'll end up dieing in prison...

Re: Darren Sharper plead guilty and is gone

Here's my question. Is he just gonna hop from prison to prison for the rest of his life? Or are they gonna agree to put him in one place and just add up the sentences?

EDIT: Nevermind. Got my answer in the NFL.com article.

e spoke with ex-NFL linebacker Scott Fujita -- who won a Super Bowl with Sharper in N.O. in 2009 -- and he couldn't believe prosecutors in Nevada and Arizona will only require Darren to serve 9 years for drugging and raping multiple women.

"He was a great teammate, a great player," Fujita says ... "But all that aside, it's disgusting and beyond repulsive."

"Look, I'm a dad of 3 daughters ... If he ends up only serving 9 years, it's an absolute shame. It's way too short."

Hard to understand how a player that did a lot for the Saints during his time here ends up sinking to this all time low. :-(

Just read that he was charged with 20 years total for all the crimes, but only has to serve 9 years with good behavior and then a lifetime with probation...

They should chop his Johnson off for starters. We don't want him rapping anyone in prison. :lightsabres:

Re: Darren Sharper plead guilty and is gone

Not that this matters but he won't be out until he is 59, unless there is an early release... but either way- 20 years. Think about everything that changes in 20 years. Think back to 1995, we had tube TV's and AOL hadn't even hit its mark. this dude is going to come out of prison and well, anyway.. I couldn't do jail man, it's the whole reason I don't kil people, just cant do it

He got a pretty good deal on that guilty plea, should've got more years like Fujita said. I have fond memories of Sharper playing for the Vikings (most of my family are Viking fans) and the Saints, but clearly the guy has some issues.

Re: Darren Sharper plead guilty and is gone

A lot of people here were defending him with all their heart when all this first came out. I understand due process and innocent til proven guilty, but there was too much smoke, and anyone w even a decent amount of common sense had to know he was most likely guilty. My sister in law was one of those, and she still thinks OJ is innocent lol. Incidentally, I think Cosby is guilty too.

I hated when Sharper was on NFL network

He had that "the look" little photo thing going
Where his teeth shined

Then he turns out to be drugging women unconcious

That whole program has ex-covicts, coke heads and bankruptcy head cases on it

Nothing is going to take away what he did on the field. He will always be a great player. Off the field, mentally sick. A level of sick exceeds his his level of greatness in the opposite direction. I hope he can one day comprehend it but in all honesty, it's not likely. He has a severe mental disorder.

Yep
Also though, you, me, a.n.other. We also have it all.
However we fail to recognise it sometimes.
Or at least that is how it will look for anyone deciding to destroy their lives by any behaviour that gets them taken away from whatever they had. Be it:
Athletic, less abled,
rich, less wealthy,
good looking, deemed otherwise.

Re: Darren Sharper plead guilty and is gone

Here is the rest of the details to his plea deal. Pretty amazing..he deserves it all and should have a pretty miserable life.

So how did former NFL safety and NFL Media analyst Darren Sharper persuade prosecutors in four states to allow him to serve only nine more years for nine alleged rapes and/or druggings? He agreed to a lot more than simply staying in jail for more than a full decade.

Ken Daley of the New Orleans Times-Picayune recently summarized the 15-page plea memo. Among other things, Sharper must consent to a penile plethysmograph test, in which a sensor will be attached to his genitals for the purposes of measuring arousal in response to specific stimulants. The agreement doesn’t explain the frequency of the testing, the manner in which results will be analyzed, or the consequences for failing the test.

Sharper’s full sentence will be 20 years, with only 10 to be served if he stays out of trouble while in prison. He also will be required to spend three-to-five years after his release in California, as part of a strict sex-offender parole program; he’ll serve the remainder of the 20 years in prison if he violates its terms. Then, Sharper will spend the rest of his life on probation in Arizona, with a 14-year sentence as the “or else” for any violation.

He’ll be required to permanently wear a GPS device, and he’ll be prohibited from ever attempting to contact any of his victims.

Sharper also is prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol — for life — and from ever entering a bar. He’ll be required to provide urine or breath samples upon request from law enforcement.

He also can’t use electronic media “for any purpose which might further sexual activity,” he’s prohibited from owning any “sexually oriented devices,” and he may not “place or answer any type of personal advertisement seeking or soliciting a relationship with a stranger.”

As surmised when news of the deal first emerged, Sharper will be required to cooperate and to testify regarding his crimes and accomplices, which could help imprison current co-defendants and bring other previously unknown suspects under scrutiny. Failure to cooperate could result in revocation of the agreement, with Sharper possibly being required to stand trial in Louisiana with a life sentence in play.

That last part could be significant, from the NFL’s perspective. With a broad requirement to cooperate with investigators, prosecutors, and juries, Sharper surely will be asked at some point whether other NFL players during his 12 years with the Packers, Vikings, and Saints were involved in similar activities.

Re: Darren Sharper plead guilty and is gone

That's "almost" as bad as being in jail. Unless he rehabilitates, he'll exist in a living hell w all the restrictions and temptations outside of jail. And even that won't guarantee the safety of any women in his realm. Perhaps a full castration is the answer.

Sad story for a guy that had it all going on. But as they say when you are stupid rich with fame and fortune you start believing that you are above reproach.

without trials there won't be millions in attorney fees that would dry up sharpers millions, pending payoffs with the victims, he may land up broke anyway. does anyone know if he were married with kids? sick just sick.

Believe he still has an NFL pension. Don't think that can be touched. He will likely stay out of trouble in prison as well. Unless of course he runs into one of the victims Dad's. If that happens he likely does not make it out alive.
