Re: Saints plan to get physical with NFC South’s big receivers
Somebody like Golson would be ideal in the slot. Add him to Byrd you teams should be fearing throwing the ball in the centre of thr field
*Senquez Golson, CB, Ole Miss* Height: 5-8. Weight: 178.* 40 Time: 4.46.* Projected Round (2015): 3-4.* 3/21/14:*Golson was one of the most dangerous cornerbacks in the nation in 2014. He was an interception machine for the Rebels. Golson showed excellent instincts and ball skills. He was smart with how he baited quarterbacks into throwing picks. Golson had 10 interceptions, the second highest total in the nation. The senior also notched 41 tackles with eight passes broken up. He went on to have a decent week at the Senior Bowl and run well at the Combine. He could be a good nickelback in the NFL.* Golson recorded 41 tackles with three passes broken up and two interceptions in 2013. He had three interceptions, three passes batted away and 36 tackles while starting six games the |

Re: Saints plan to get physical with NFC South’s big receivers
I like all three of these guys and it becomes quickly a pick and choice of secondary traits. splitting hairs.
Charles Gaines issue run support. best CB in the draft jumping underneath routes Senquez Golson issue man coverage. instincts off the chart Lorenzo Doss issue not a hitter. smart and quick Craig Mager is a project sure but he is solid in man coverage and has good quickness. what i really like is this. solid tackler that loves to hit. he is a SS stuck in a CB body when it comes to hitting and tackling. i see corey white aggressiveness but with better coverage skills. with our two main CB we are bump and run all day. love it. jam'em slam'em blanket'em and toe tag'em so i think the nickle and dime guys need to be very strong in this area also. given the play at safety last year and the fact we did not add any one back there. tackling is the top secondary skill set required. both in the run and open field. no shy birds or wrap and tugs if possible the kid has the right attitude. aggressive hard hitting and loves it plus he can be had probably a round or two later hell add two in the back half of the draft and i will be happy. depth wise i still see plenty of room for improvement. add 3 from the roster i am looking at. one of the two top dogs go down we are quickly right back were we were last year. |

Re: Saints plan to get physical with NFC South’s big receivers
Payton keeps mentioning Delvin Breaux. He says he has good hands and he has size. I'm hoping he is the answer at nickel back. I'm very curious to see what they do with Vaccarro. Could Breaux play strong safety? If he's as good as advertised, he should be starting, right?

Re: Saints plan to get physical with NFC South’s big receivers
Shouldn't we just officially move Vacarro to nickel CB?? We essentially drafted him because he was a strong safety who could play man to man against slot WR's... And that's how we used him to relative success his rookie season. Then we tried to make him a true strong safety last season and it was an utter disaster. The kid is so good at getting physical with those finesse speedy slot receivers. With Lewis, Browner and Vaccaro as our starting CB's in the nickel formation no-one would ever get a clean release running their routes.

Vaccarro does seem to have good hands so I could see him being a decent strong safety. Maybe a Polamalu type, playing near the line, giving run support, jamming guys and gambling some to pick off underneath routes.
