Boo Williams Revived?
 

We all think that Pathon is a pretty good third WR, right?

I just noticed that Boo had only one fewer catches (32 to 34) than Pathon and one more TD (2 to 1) this year.

Maybe Boo wasn't as bad as we thought? Certainly he wasn't spectacular, but may not as bad as he has been made to sound?

My bad LB, I must have mistyped it, since Boo had 33 catches and Pathon had 34 (at least according to NFL.com).

No problem, JK. Just having a little fun, and being my typical smart-a$$ self. I knew it was probably a typo.

Boo seems to be a work-in-progress. A couple of years ago I thought he was going to turn into an all-pro tight end. Now I am beginning to wonder, but I wouldn\'t be surprised if he did put it all together some day. Maybe if he had a QB that threw more catchable balls....(j/k, just trying to yank a few chains)

I don\'t have time right now, but it would be interesting to compare Boo\'s stats to some of the other starters across the league. Clearly, there will be some that are noticeably better, but I\'m wondering if 30+ catches isn\'t pretty good for a TE?

Of course, it is even harder to get \"thrown to\" stats, but that would be interesting too.

If anyone knows where to find such things, I\'ll happily do the research tomorrow.

Boo Williams had one good year, which was the second half of the season last year. Remember he was a wide receiver coming into the league then coverted into a tight end. I think the \"potential\" is there, but he just hasn\'t put it all together like so many other of the Saints players. I honestly feel if he doesn\'t put it together this season after showing flashes, we need to move on and give someone else a chance. I really want to see this Zach Hilton guy play some. Very tall, big and he has nice hands. Our coaching staff needs to learn when to give up because we\'ve had so many projects on our team over there years and it\'s time to cut off some loose ends. I\'d give Boo this year to blow up or ship out. If he doesn\'t produce here, like so many former players, he\'ll likely enjoy and scenary change and produce elsewhere. Kind of make you sick watching talent leave, but since we(coaching staff) can\'t harness our players, it\'s our fault.

I sound like a broken record talking about our O-line.

But, our O-line affected Boo\'s season?

Why?

Because Boo usually isn\'t the first option in the passing game. QBs go through a progression in their reads.

That progression takes a certain amount of time for the QB to make.

Simply put, our offensive line really didn\'t allow Brooks to go through his progression and Boo stats suffered.

I believe that\'s true for Stallworth and Pathon too.

Keep in mind that the number of completions by the receivers were inflated due to the fact that Brooks threw the ball more than any other QB in the NFL.

Since he doesn\'t really block, I figure that we might be better off to play him as a slot receiver next season. Or put him in motion to end up at slot next season. LB\'s are going to have a hard time covering him. I can\'t see how Pathon returns with his cap number.

I don\'t think Boo was that great this year. I\'ll admit that he made some impressive catches. I also remember quite abit dropped catches (which he was supposed to have worked on in the offseason). He also needs to stop his complaining. I first noticed it at the Vikings game this year, he spent more time on the phone on the sideline complaining about the warmup music than he did warming up. He also begs for PI calls anytime he drops a catch during a game. He ain\'t Tony G, so until he can produce like a probowl TE don\'t expect for the zebras to even consider that.

Bottom line, I don\'t see anything to show that he improved. I do agree that he has to potential but he needs to work harder and stop complaining.
