Latest SI Mock Draft
Bud Dupre at 13 and Maxx Williams at 31.
13 BUD DUPREE, OLB/DE Senior, Kentucky Now owning a second pick in the first round, at No. 31, thanks to the stunning Jimmy Graham trade with Seattle, the Saints have a little more latitude to be on the move come draft night. If they stay at No. 13, Dupree offers some of the pass rush juice they sorely lacked last season, and his blend of size, speed and athleticism should present opportunities for defensive coordinator Rob Ryan to move him around and find his best role. This might be a tad high for Dupree in the eyes of some teams, but pass rushers never linger long on the board. 31 MAXX WILLIAMS, TE RS Sophomore, Minnesota The Saints could easily keep their first-round focus on defense, after taking Kentucky pass rusher Bud Dupree at No. 13. But with the pick they received from Seattle in trade for Jimmy Graham, finding another starting tight end seems logical. Williams isn’t the one-on-one mismatch that Graham was—who is?—but he’d make a nice target for Drew Brees and can even add an element of blocking ability that Graham never exhibited. Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
I could see it, then one of the top 3 ILB in the 2nd
|
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
Im a huge Kentucky fan but our defense sucked. We run a 4-3 and I like Dupree but I honestly think the only reason he is being considered in the first round is on his combine numbers alone.

MAXX WILLIAMS @31 ????
look i am gopher alum but at 31 is insane and putting to much need on replacing jimmy to be this desperate, is stupid |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
Taking Dupree at 13?? From the two replay games I saw of him, he appears slow & didn't appear to be very athletic coming off the edge. Nothing stands out for me. If he is there in the second, yeah, maybe but not at 13.
|
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
Don't mind the first one but I think we pick the best ILB on the board at 31 and then the TE in the second or with the extra third
|
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
I can't remember a draft in the last 10 years where we had so many viable options.
There seems to be an infinite number of combinations that I'd be completely satisfied with on draft day. Anyone else feel the same way? |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
What we need is a waterboy, and I'd be a steal at 31. Make it happen Loomie!

Too many needs to take a TE @ 31. Personally I'm fine with Hill. |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
Shelton and an ILB would fill the defenses two biggest holes.

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
Josh Hill is probably better than Maxx Williams and a better athlete too. I love Williams' hands but I'd prefer a different pick there.
|
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
I would target Blake Bell, TE, Oklahoma in the fifth round...
Josh Hill will be a very good TE for us and that takes the heat off to 'find Graham's replacement'... Colston can again be your big, high, tall target he was before Jimmy pushed that aside... And you can always draft a young big tall WR, because if we don't move up and unless Beasley or Scherff fall... I suspect we're taking DGB at 13 and defense with the next three picks... |

If Sherff and Beasley are gone, there's a strong chance Kevin White will be there too. |

Raiders, Redskins, Jets, Rams, and Vikings all need 'X' receivers very badly... And I wouldn't discount the Bears after trading the troubled kid, Marshall, to NY Jets... |

We're not going there... As bad as we've drafted, we're not doing dumb sh*t like that again... Jim Haslett's not in the house... |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
No way we take the TE at 31.
I do see us snagging a QB in the second round. |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
DGB has never proven he cdn tun a route tree has he?
Not saying i dont want him as i think he is talented. But 13 is too high for me |

Look, I'm sure he'll go higher than he should but that's still not higher than #20. Personally I don't think he's even 1st round material. |
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
I'm totally excited about this draft & unless anyone can read the minds of Mickey or Sean, we won't know till we hear the names of our picks.
|
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
Agreed.
I haven't been this excited about an upcoming draft in a while. |
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
You guys are right. I'm stoked for this draft!
Can't wait to see how many times we make moves! |
Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
DGB should go in the 25-32 picks of the first round, anywhere higher than that and that team is just plan stupid, he's a talent but he has size and speed. There are better WRs in this draft that SHOULD be drafted before him

#31-Eli Harold OLB Virgina or Shaq Thompson Washington Rd2-Phillip Dorsett wr The U RD3-Ali Marpet OL Hobart RD3-Donovan Smith OT Penn State. I would be freaking Giddy! |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
am I the only one not all that thrilled by Bud Dupree? Someone tell me why I should like this pick? He sounds like a semi project. I'd rather get smokey from Nebraska if he falls to this spot???

I would only consider taking him if he slid down to the 2nd round. |

consensus for top 3 I'd take Scherff in a heartbeat... these guys have him anywhere from 8 to 18. Good safe pick Gregory might not be done dropping |

Re: Latest SI Mock Draft
I don't know enough about the mid round O-line prospects. I know that Collins or Scherff can start day one and help the Saints get first downs behind them. I'm willing to invest high draft picks at the guard/tackle position this year to extend Drew's playing time.
Although from what I've read on this board Marpet(sp?)sounds like an intriguing prospect in the third round. |
