As we wade into our massive pool of College Football Focus data, we’ll be sharing with you some of the highlights from our Signature Stats in position-by-position looks. So, for a couple weeks you can expect daily dives into the best and worst that the full FBS schedule produced in all of the same categories you’ve come to know from our NFL coverage. It’s important to note that our stats are different from our grades, as the stats are black and white, result-based numbers while the grades add the context to a player’s contribution in each situation.

After wrapping things up yesterday with a look at the off-ball linebackers, we’re going back to the offensive side to see how this year’s crop of draft-eligible tight ends fared.

Yards Per Route Run

2014 NFL Leader: Rob Gronkowski 2.53

– Topping the list are two players considered by many to be the best prospects at the position: Miami’s Clive Walford and Minnesota’s Maxx Williams.
– With 20 receptions of at least 15 yards, and eight forced missed tackles, Walford finished comfortably ahead of the pack with a 3.26 YPRR.

Re: Tight Ends

We need a third TE, but I don't think it will come out of this draft.

Re: Tight Ends

Walford, Williams or O'Leary any of them would look good in a Saints uniform. Payton will replace Graham. I hope we get a Shockey 2.0 to go along with Hill, good in the run and passing game and don't take crap off anyone on the field.

Re: Tight Ends

If we are to draft a TE and rebuilding is the ideology we are following. Draft a TE that can be groomed to replace Watson down the road. An old school guy with hands, shame Williams did not stay in school. smart move coming out this year with such a weak TE class. He would have been perfect. 31 is were we would have to take him. odds are 44 he is long gone.

so who is next? I am sticking late round with Blake out of OU. Project player that can always provide you a 3rd QB option. If we are down to a 3rd option what the heck. A game day woobie blanket. Much like WR Tony Lippett MSU would give you as n emergency CB if needed. Or as some see it an emergency WR. some think he is better at CB. There is two players that can fit wholes in a pinch if needed. leaving a roster spot open

Either way i do not see a TE getting picked early but if the saints do pick Maxx for giggles sakes, i would expect impact right out the gate from him without a doubt
