I kinda think it's a "thing" with Payton, he likes to target guys with NFL pedigrees or second generation players. Toon, Byrd, Ingram, and maybe a few others I can't remember. Seems like it's part of his MO. I guess he feels like they come with the NFL work ethic, culture and locker room smarts already built-in. Besides the obvious genetics of athleticism and skill that would be a factor, I'm sure having a father from the NFL who has been there before, in almost any and every locker room situation, to give the son advice or experience about the JOB of football, is a very valuable attribute to have.

If you're trying to build a team that doesn't have head cases or spoiled immature prima donnas, that's a pretty good thing to add to the mix.

snap queen at camp, gives him a paycheck for a few weeks may have a shoot to hop on roster if not here somewhere else. he's a good kid I have no problem with him at camp or on the sidelines, his pop passed the genes down he just needs reps.

Poppa Golic didn't exactly set the NFL on fire when he played

Oliver Luck didn't set the league on fire either.

MGJr wasn't an unanimous #1 pick in the draft so what's your point

Point? No Point. How does what the son did / will do have any bearing on the career of the father?

None, I thought Archie was the best Manning because he had to put up with an incompetent front office and crappy players. His sons never had to deal with either
