Re: Saints sign center Mike Golic Jr.
I kinda think it's a "thing" with Payton, he likes to target guys with NFL pedigrees or second generation players. Toon, Byrd, Ingram, and maybe a few others I can't remember. Seems like it's part of his MO. I guess he feels like they come with the NFL work ethic, culture and locker room smarts already built-in. Besides the obvious genetics of athleticism and skill that would be a factor, I'm sure having a father from the NFL who has been there before, in almost any and every locker room situation, to give the son advice or experience about the JOB of football, is a very valuable attribute to have.
If you're trying to build a team that doesn't have head cases or spoiled immature prima donnas, that's a pretty good thing to add to the mix. |

Re: Saints sign center Mike Golic Jr.
snap queen at camp, gives him a paycheck for a few weeks may have a shoot to hop on roster if not here somewhere else. he's a good kid I have no problem with him at camp or on the sidelines, his pop passed the genes down he just needs reps.

Re: Saints sign center Mike Golic Jr.
Poppa Golic didn't exactly set the NFL on fire when he played

Re: Saints sign center Mike Golic Jr.
Oliver Luck didn't set the league on fire either.

Re: Saints sign center Mike Golic Jr.
MGJr wasn't an unanimous #1 pick in the draft so what's your point

Re: Saints sign center Mike Golic Jr.
Point? No Point. How does what the son did / will do have any bearing on the career of the father?
