Oh come on anyone we draft at 13 is going to start... they have to have you seen our D play? Anyone can end up making that unit as a starter.

If Williams is there at #4 we better trade with OAK to grab him. Give our 13 and 31 up for the hands down best player in the draft.

Then at 44 we could take the best ILB available.

i'd even be fine with just staying at 13,31 and taking BPA on defense with both picks even though I'd rather OLine at 13

What I'm taking from his comments is that we won't be reaching for players who may or may not contribute immediately like last years second round pick. I believe that Payton is trying to calm the fans down before the draft believing that he'll try to play it a little safer and look for starters not projects.

This does not mean we will trade up.....it means we will look for value and not potential. With two first round picks we have a good chance of finding starters. Personally, I hope we keep all five of our first picks where there is a lot of talent available in the first three rounds. Then package any number of the picks left for trading up to get a player they want. :bng:

I would like to see every draft pick this season. We do need a few starters to make thing solid, I have given up on any 1 player taking over a game but get 3-4 in their on the same page you get results on a consistant basis. NT, ILB, G need to be able to start with our draft picks and then get solid rotational players to fill in.
