dallas seems more n more right the more i think of it. they need a edge guy bad, howard is a player that parcell could go for, and they gotta be satisfied with the last majoe defensive lineman that cam from this direction. 2 first round picks in their stable too. any of ya'll have any other save the ship trade ideas (howard or otherwise)? dallas needs a QB too don't they ;) |

I\'d love to trade him to dallas for picks. that would give us extra picks in the first round possibly.
now-you wanna throw a QB in the mix thats fine too. |

With the injury bug hitting Howard recently, I just don\'t know if Dallas would offer up a first rounder. He\'s definitely worth a second rounder.

Hmmmmm....new idea. Brooks to San Fran for Petersen. It\'s about equal in terms of contracts I believe. McCarthy can keep his godson, and we\'ll get a great defender.

The way I see it, we have 4 guys who have great trade value to offer.
In order of their trade value. Our current starting QB--I think there are 2 great moves and several OK ones. Miami--see if Saban will part with the #2 overall and a conditional 1st next year for our QB. We might throw in Stecker to sweeten the deal a bit. Dallas--Offer our QB for their first pick and a conditional 1st next year. Parcells wants to win now and our guy is a known commodity. 49ers--try and get their #1 and LT Kwame Harris (who is great at run blocking, not so hot at pass blocking and been a disappointment to them). If they won\'t deal Harris, try and get this year\'s #1 and a conditional #1 next year. Cleveland--go for a #1 and conditional #1 for next season. Oakland--ask for the #1 and Stuart Schweigert (S) or Barry Sims (LT). Detroit--If they want to pull the plug on Harrington, they might be willing to deal their #10 overall and a conditional 1st next year. Darren Howard--pass rushers get lots of attention and money in free agency. I bet that Dallas and Jax might be very interested in parting with a #1 for a good end. Howard\'s health concerns won\'t be taken any more seriously than Jevon Kearse\'s were. I think the smart move is to deal Howard to Green Bay. They need to win immediately if Favre comes back, Reggie White got them back in the superbowl in the same kind of deal and they haven\'t had much luck in their last few drafts. They might give a lot to get Howard (like 2 picks and Ahmad Carroll) Deuce--Even in an off year, he has a lot of value. There are just too many good runners coming out in the draft this year to bank on Deuce getting a blockbuster deal. Saban can get Benson, Brown or Williams at the #2 so I don\'t see Deuce getting much interest. Horn--He\'s still elite, but he\'s old. I bet he would get a LOT of interest from teams like Green Bay, the Raiders, Denver or maybe Philly. |

Anyone who watches ESPN will not give us a first for Leon BMG unless we give them ours in return. Maybe a second and a conditional first next year we may be able to get for him, but no way in hell he draws a first and a quality player AND a conditional first next year. They would have to be blind. And with analysts knocking him at every turn, that would be a fleecing of Herschel Walker to Minnesota proportions and teams just don\'t do that any more. If we got a second for him i\'d be doing back flips. That\'s assuming some NFL GM views watching tv, video tapes, reading reports, or listening to other NFL Gms as taboo and just likes to \"wing it\" with his gut feelings. I think we are beyond having any of those around in this day and age of football.

WhoDi--Here\'s my take on it.
I\'m counting on egos to kick in and say, \"Brooks would be ok if he had someone better than Haslett coaching him and Loomis signing him.\" Some other organization will be blinded by the numbers he\'s put up. Case in point--even Joe Gibbs made a big move to get Brunnell. Back in the day, we gave up too much to get Schuler, friggin Schuler. Someone would rather have the certainty of Brooks 3000 yards and 20+ TDs a year. |

I agree with you in that regard, but I don\'t think teams are that foolish anymore. Gibbs thought Brunell had some left int he tank, and Brunell has led an expansion team to an AFC champ game and annual playoff trips. We don\'t have that resume for our guy, numbers aside. And us over-paying for someone is nothing new. We got fleeced for Tesucky and the Pats were laughing about it.(Patriot Reign). I think getting a first this year is overly optimistic. I can agree with the conitional first next year ala Ricky Williams trade, but we will be hard pressed to find a GM who isn\'t still drawing stick figures on cave walls who will give us a first for Leon.
