So how excited are you about next season with the moves so far this offseason?
I have to say I am more excited than I have been in several years. Im not saying championship or even playoffs, but this team will be interesting to watch.
Looks like we will have a completely new identity. Pre season and camp will be very interesting with the backup QB battle and all the DBs. It is going to be exciting to see Ingram as a full time back. It may be like getting to know a whole new team. Im sure our offense will still be tops but I bet we are way more balanced with the run. Our defense really couldnt be much worse than last year so that is something we can look forward to seeing. Im stoked! Love the draft so far. |

I'm really excited for our new OLB Hauoli the more tape I watch on him from (Danny Shelton) highlight videos the more I see how he played a HUGE role in helping him get that 1st round selection. Same thing goes for Stephone Anthony with Vic Beasley videos. I grant you this is how the saints became high on these guys. We got some great puzzle peices.

I am just as stumped as ever.
some i really like, Stephone Anthony can he be the three down ILB we have been missing since Vilma left. sure a reach but time will tell. not a bad gamble IMO P.J. Williams got drafted about where i thought he should but i did not expect it one bit. can he keep his head on straight? but the skills are there then there is the wait to see Andrus Peat i see the upside and i had him going to the Giants. He fit their blocking scheme much more than he fits ours. True LT is a curious pick with Armstead here. how will this will work out down the road? But He needs work and needs to get a bit nasty. He might be spot duty and Injury replacement player that replaces Harris this year and that is it. I have trouble seeing him as a starter till he learns to handle speed and then there are the annual IR dice rolls that have not worked out for us at all. Drew can not cover up how bad these moves have been. These really kill my mood. If the IR tags were not what they are i would be pumped Hau'oli Kikaha - none stop motor and a great locker room guy but those sack totals are against spread offense they run out west. Garrett Grayson - skills are there. mind is there but fragile. this kid needs to become friends with the trainers big time. Well lets see what happens on day three. 3 picks and pray to good they are still with the team by seasons end. So far staying away from the Kool Aid is really easy for me |

Re: So how excited are you about next season with the moves so far this offseason?
Not real happy with the draft. Looks like a typical B draft for the Saints again, which I'm starting to get really tired of. First, we have starting tackles. The OT we pick in this draft, and I do think we need to draft one, should have come either in last pick of the 3rd round, or the 5th round. I like that they tried to trade up for Schreff, and would have been THRILLED if that would have happened, when it didn't it seemed like the Saints got mad and just picked an OT at random, but let's not dwell on that right now. With your first round pick, or picks, you MUST draft impact playmakers. What did we do? We at best, drafted a back up OT, at worst created a rift on the team between the incumbent LT, and the new guy. Don't see how that helps the locker room.
Now, with our 2nd first round pick, we got a keeper. We haven't had even decent LB's on this team since the Dome Patrol years. I think Stephon Anthony changes all that now. I think this guy will be a game changing playmaker on the inside of our defense, and paired with Galette and kiakaha, our second round pick, I think we finally have the beginnings of a very good LB corps with 3 legitimate game changing playmakers. It will be very exciting to see how these guys come together this year. Moving on to our 3rd round picks, my disappointment in this draft, and what strengthens my comment about this being another typical boring B grade draft, we pick Garette Grayson. Sounds more like a comic book character than the supposed successor to one of the most impressive QB's in NFL history and a futureHall of Famer. Looking at some of his tape, he looks more like a bad Drew Bree's, or Drew on one of his multiple INT games. Wasted pick as far as I'm concerned. What happened with Ryan Griffin anyway? Still, I don't have a problem if the Saints feel like they need someone else to replace Drew in a few years, I would have preferred them to take Bryce Petty. We need a more physically gifted QB, not an attempt to replace Drew with a clone. When Drew hangs em up, it will be time to move on and try to get even better. P.J. Williams is one of the bad boys in this draft. If we passed on Ray and Gregory and others in this draft to make a point of drafting quality character players, then why draft this guy who will not have as much impact on this team as the aforementioned players. A real head scratcher to say the least. SP and ML said they wanted players that could start immediately, then proceed to contradict those statements. From what I see, we did very well with the LB picks, and wasted the other 3, making this the B draft that we usually get from these guys, not the "CROSSROADS" draft that we needed. Hope I'm wrong, though. |

Peat, Great player but I don't see the purpose of drafting unless they plan to trade or release our current OT; +B /I am clueless what the plans are with 3 OT starters
Anthony, perfect pick +A /starter immediately Kikaha, perfect pick, yeah he run a 4.9 but how fast can a qb run backwards +A / will be in rotation game one then start the rest GG, lots of talent and potential but why use the 75 pick here when you have been molding Ryan Griffin to be the successor? B /hopefully will be trade bait in 2 years P.J. Absolute steal, +A /will not start but will challenge for the nickel position |

The Peat pick confused me because our tackles our fine, its the guard spot that is a little in question.
I like the other 3 picks but I think we needed a WR more than a corner Currently we have Colston - looks to be on his last legs Cooks - going to be good Toon - played well at the end of the season Morgan - very inconsistent and maturity issues Coleman - drops everything Jones - could be decent but completely unknown at the minute. |

Andrus Peat - Strief is 33 when the season starts and can be released after this year saving 4 million cap... Bryce Harris was the backup incase of injury
Stephone Anthony - Immediate starter; Kikawoowah() - Just finds a way to get to the QB, led the nation with 19 sacks last season Grayson - Drew has two years left on his contract, and is getting old. Better to try and get a legitimate replacement a couple of years earlier than be stuck like the Buccaneers are gambling on Winston Williams - Should have went a lot earlier than the third and will see the field in the nickel... I think the draft has went rather well and I see 4 players who will see significant playing time next year... |

Our first three picks will be playing this season for sure. Garrett will wait for Drew and PJ will play behind Lewis and Browner. I give our draft an A- so far.
