Oh Johnny
So, most of you probably know about Johnny Cochoran's group that has threatened to sue the league for discrimination. While that's probably just big talk, their real purpose is to promote equality in the tops spots of the league. As a result, the league has adopted a policy in which it requires a team to interview at least one minority candidate when hiring a head coach. So what do you guys think about this?
Certainly, there are fewer black head coaches than there should be. I mean, Marvin Lewis should have been hired as a head coach two or three years ago. Now it looks like the Bengals are going to hire him. Isn't that a consolation prize? And what about Dennis Green? Where has his name been in all of the off-season rumors? However, on the other hand, this talk about the Dallas Cowboys not following the rules (which by the way weren't in place when they started looking for a new head coach) is crazy. The bottom line in football is the best person for the job gets it. Politics should have no place in football. I mean, 70% of the players in the league are black. DO you see anyone saying that teams should have to try out one white player for every black one? No, b/c the bottom line is that the best player plays. I don't know. This whole issue seems ridiculous to me... is it just me? |

Oh Johnny
Dennis Green has talked to the Bengals and the Jags. He pulled out of consideration for the Bengals job. I haven\'t heard anything about the Jags opening yet.
