Cowboys sign Collins
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter · now9 seconds ago
Cowboys have signed former LSU OL La'el Collins, as @NFLCharean reported. A potential first-rounder as an undrafted free agent. To Dallas. Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter · 55s56 seconds ago Here's the deal on La'el Collins deal with Dallas: Cowboys fully guaranteed the 3-year, $1.65 million deal, per source. Fully guaranteed. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
What a moron.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Makes sense. That's his favorite team. We were not even in the mix. Strange being from La an not even consider it.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Heard he only wanted to play tackle and I think we're set there for now

I wish him well but damn I wanted him. Dallas O line just got better. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Cowboys lost DeMarco Murray, who was, arguably, the main reason for their success offensively last season. Now they have McFadden back there, who has had one healthy season in his career. Cowboys are now one dimensional, offensively. A lot harder to be successful when you're one dimensional. Plus Romo isn't elite. So Collins going there doesn't equate to success for the team. But he gets to play tackle, which is what he wanted

Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Not surprised.

Re: Cowboys sign Collins
I feel like Alabama just came into Louisiana and signed away our blue chip prospect. It's like a punch in the gut.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Punch in the gut is right. But at least he didn't sign with Atlanta (which was reported to be one of the final 5 top choices in another thread).
I'm disgusted. But it's his life. There's no state income tax in TX I believe, which could have had some bearing. Well, all is not lost. At least Tom Brady is going to be suspended! Draft picks are on the table! Even Kraft can't wheedle out of this one. <my opinion> |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
A report came out early that Florida and Texas teams had a advantage with no state tax. That early report and his agent saying they would not play if picked late smacks of a man chasing money.
Jerry is getting him signed saying yeah youll get a shot at tackle etc,he will be the LG. Cant see them pushing out Tyron Smith. Chasing the $$$$$ |

If the Saints staff wanted him, surely they should have picked him in the draft. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
I know his initial salary is the same but the stat taxes are not.
Anyone really believe he has not been promised a new deal at X millions after two years. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Endorsements and commercials.
One of Jerry's friends could pay him 1 million / year to endorse their products. He can appear on a radio show 10 minutes per week at 1 million. Someone can pay him to run an O-line camp for kids in the off-season for another million. There are several ways he could make more money in Dallas than in New Orleans. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Bingo. He's sure to get a lot of off book incentives.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
saints even make a play for him?
idiots. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
I would not be shocked in the slightest after everything started and it became obvious that he wouldn't b drafted in rounds 1-3 if Jerry spoke to the agent and said we will sign you as a UDFA and this whole deal was done in advance
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
And we didn't get Richie Incognito either.

Delighted to be wrong in the Bucs prediction.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
He could have played tackle for us. Who cares that we drafted Peat. If we had signed Collins he would have been the immediate front runner for one of the tackle spots. I knew they weren't going to draft Collins after they went with Peat, but when you get a chance to sign a top 10 talent as a free agent who cares who you drafted? But he picked the stupid Cowgirls.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
argh **** it, look the Saints had their chance to sign Collins and he picked the Cowboys. Can't hate him there, I think he wanted out of Louisiana too

Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Money move all this was.... Saints will be alright without him.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
If he didn't want to be here, to hell with him!!
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Figures.
|
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
to guarantee 1.75 mill over 3 years or not to guarantee
that was the question If we did, oh well if we did not, the front office needs a lobotomy. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Payton said he was viewed as a guard,he wanted to play as a tackle. He also has less taxes to pay and plays for his team. Simple decision i guess

The biggest selling point was our cap on two years. Dallas is going to be in a world of hurt when it comes time to resign him SP can say what he wants . they blew it. |

Re: Cowboys sign Collins
Disgusting.
Benedict Arnold Collins. But that's alright. Here's toasting the Saints putting a major butt whipping on the CowPatties on their way through the playoffs. He's drinking to Kikaha & Tull carving through that line like melted butter. Karma. |
Re: Cowboys sign Collins
He fits perfectly in that organization.
