Our WR corps
Anyone concerned about the state of our WR corps? Outside of Colston and Cooks, they are young and, for the most part, inexperienced. I've been hoping the light would come on for Toon for years, but it just hasn't, so I can't put my hopes in him. Morgan was kicked off the team last year, basically. Then we have unproven talent in Coleman, Jones and Saunders. I have high hopes for all of them. But the UDFA RJ Harris, I'm excited for him. Reminds me of a Lance Moore type
But, overall, a little concern for our WR corps. Thoughts? |

Re: Our WR corps
I suspect we'll sign a vet, but on paper this unit doesn't look any worse than the 2009 unit that won the Superbowl.
The main worry is that we have a few unproven guys. But the potential is there. And Toon did look a lot better as the season went on. |

Re: Our WR corps
If the O line improves, more time in the pocket will make the receiving corps better, much better. I think that's what hurt the most last year. Bree's didn't have time to spread the D.

Re: Our WR corps
Don't forget the improved run game will help also. Btw,did anybody else like those reverse flea flickers in the video?

Re: Our WR corps
Said it before on other threads, these young guys have got to get more reps, opportunities if they're gonna develop...
Would Marques Colston have even made the team if we had been somewhat loaded at wide receiver in 2006?!? We've got some great size in Nick Toon, Brandon Coleman and Seantavius Jones who've only had few chances to shine... Plus, you've got Jalen Saunders who came on late in the season in special teams who's now got more time in learning the system... Really don't think Payton moved stills without having something there on the roster to ease his doubt in making the Dolphins trade... And with all the picks we had and the ability to make a receiver twice what he'd be on another team, we drafted no wideouts... Am really excited to see what this big group of receivers is going to do... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: Our WR corps
You make a good point. Brees, with time, can make any WR look amazing. We've seen how our WRs that have left to join other teams, tend to disappear there (Meachem, Moore). It will be about the reps these young guys get wtih Brees and how fast they are able to get on the same page. And it's true, if Payton didn't feel comfortable with our young guys, he wouldn't have traded away Stills and Graham.

And I enjoyed those reverses and flee flickers, but, in the NFL, that takes too long to develop and bad things happen. It was still fun to watch tho! |

I fear the saints will have a top 5 WR corp in 2015. for dropped passes and by mid season we will be second guessing not drafting at least one wr

He just needs to stay healthy, focused and sober. I really hope Im wrong about our first pick.
