Prisco's notebook, Saints O Simplified?

With Saints offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy gone to San Francisco -- he wasn't coming back to New Orleans anyway -- the Saints still have an opening, and it appears Marc Trestman is the front-runner to land the job. The one thing Saints coach Jim Haslett wants from his new coordinator is a simplification of the team's offensive playbook. Haslett said the play calls were way too complicated under McCarthy, which added to trouble getting them called. Whoever is hired as the coordinator will be asked to trim the calls down. The next big question will be whether that coordinator will be working with quarterback Aaron Brooks. There is some thinking Brooks could be playing elsewhere, but where would the Saints get a quarterback? The guess here is that Brooks will be the one making those simplified play calls in the huddle in 2005 and Trestman will be sending them in. The Saints hired longtime NFL coach Johnny Roland to coach the team's running backs. The one thing the Saints want is someone to push the backs -- including Deuce McAllister -- harder. Roland is that kind of coach.

brooks will probably be here unless he can be traded so we can get a higher picka nd grab smith/rodgers...honestly with a simplification of the offense we might want brooks-attitude and all back..athletically he is just what you want in a player...unfortunatly you need to dumb down the offense to get that.
