Saints rookie Davis Tull motivated by difficult journey to NFL, former coach says
Davis Tull's life has been all about bad timing.
There was the broken femur at the beginning of his senior year of high school that caused colleges to back off his recruitment. He eventually ended up walking on at Tennessee-Chattanooga. Tull wasn't able to run the 40-yard dash at the Combine this string because of a hamstring issue, although he was able to post impressive numbers in the other drills. ![]() Then there was the torn labrum that potentially dropped him from a third round selection to a fifth rounder, where he was eventually taken by the New Orleans Saints. Now the rest is up to him. "I think that's the story of his life," said Marcus West, Tull's college position coach "He's had to earn it and get everything the hard way. And he has no problem doing it." Shortly before the draft, West said that he had a feeling Tull would be drafted late or not at all.
