He\'s no longer consistent and he can\'t kick the ball into the end zone. Not to mention we play in a dome and he can do neither. Draft Nugent, he\'s a stud at kicker. If Janikowski can we drafted in the first round, I can\'t see why this guy couldn\'t. Just not in the first round for us, maybe second.

I agree with drafting a kicker at some point. Carney is definitely on the downside.

How soon should he go? I was worried about him kicking off the new turf but he seemed to adjust to that pretty well. Obviously, every year he\'ll lose a little something. I\'m just not sure this is the year to give up a clutch kicker for a rookie.
As far as kickoffs, isn\'t that Mitch\'s job? Side note: I said \"clutch kicker\" above and then thought \"and that\'s the same guy who missed an extra point in a critical situation.\" I might need to redifine something here. |

I still remember many games in which Carney did the kickoffs, and it wasn\'t even close.

Maybe we should use our first round pick and draft a kicker...like we did several years ago when we drafted Erxleben. (Sarcasm, for those who can\'t tell)
Russell Erxleben, kicker/punter from Texas, had an opportunity to beat the 49ers with seconds left to go in the in his very first professional game...I think. Yeah, I am an old man, and I am just tring to go by memory...and it is fading. Anyway, he missed a kick that wan\'t much longer than an extra point...wide right. The whole city was in an uproar, having given up a first round pick for this. He was so dejected that he decided to take his life later that evening, so, he loaded his gun, pointed it at his head and pulled the trigger. Again, he missed...wide right. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

It\'s hard to laugh at that story....but I am anyway.
I think I\'ll go wide right if we draft a kicker in round one. :mic1: |

No one said we need to draft a kicker in round one...
Was kind of funny in a pathetic twisted way... |
