FINS LOOKING TO STOCKPILE PICKS
Although there have been rumblings that the Dolphins might try to swing a trade with the Chiefs for late-blooming running back Larry Johnson, we're hearing that the Fins aren't looking to acquire veteran players via trade.
Instead, word is that the Dolphins are hoping to use some of their own veterans as bait for more draft picks, which then would be used to help coach Nick Saban rebuild the roster.
Another motivation for shopping some of their veterans is a projected eight-figure salary cap bulge, which could require the team to dump some players, getting nothing in return.

----anyone for a mckenzie/sam madison duo? that would actually be quite impressive. boards even have them shopping zach thomas. though getting long in tooth i think the veteran leadership and experience would be a good fit with our toddler LBs. courtney could adapt well to outside and learn from thomas while he bulks up for the middle in another yr or two. a 2nd for madison? 3rd or 4th for thomas?

to fantasize, bring them both in with bates dc-ing. they could be psuedo teachers of the new system with him. as poor as the fins were last year the defense was still 8th in the league and always had that sharp aggressive look. they lost 5 games in which they gave up 20pts or less.

it depends on how high of picks your talking about.

first mention of any saints scouting i have heard...

John Murphy of Next Level Scouting provided us with all his notes from one of the premier scouting events of the offseason, including a glowing review of LSU CB Corey Webster (pictured). The Saints were in full force at the Senior Bowl, with nearly their entire scouting department on hand to scout out the Saints\' 2005 Draft Class.

Baronm... he was injured for most of the year. Just remember how he performed pre-injury, he was considered a sure top 15 pick last year.

Webster has the skills and shape to be a very good corner, and he came off an outstanding junior season. But things have seemed to gone downhill from there. I\'m not sure what to think of the guy at this point. Had a average senior season, and a dreadful North/South Bowl outing.
If the Phins are willing to part with Thomas for a 3rd or 4th, which I personally doubt they would, you make that trade. Don\'t tell me about his age either, I\'m fully aware of how old he is, he\'s also a tackling machine and the heart of a very good defense.

this is a pretty deep draft class for cb. i think a good value one might end up being available for the 2nd pick. if not webster, brandon browner perhaps.

there is also some really good cb from smaller schools, and one guy from vandy that really intrigues me

Webster will probably be nothing more than a good nickel back, which i think is worth a second as more teams are using 3+ Wr sets.

here\'s one of the strongest comments i have come across reviewing the qb prospects-

Dan Orlovsky- Uconn
- Orlovsky has been an unknown by the casual fan, but is well known by scouts. He’s a big quarterback with a strong arm and great poise. He hasn’t put up amazing numbers, but he’s efficient and will get looks in the 2nd or 3rd round. With Miami, San Francisco, Green Bay, Arizona, Seattle, New Orleans and Kansas City all locks to look for quarterbacks, Orlovsky will start to get more interest the closer we get to the draft.
Our bet: New Orleans. Aaron Brooks will be ran out of town once free agency starts and unless a new coach comes in and keeps him, they’ll be looking for a quarterback early in the draft. Orlovksy has a big arm and will be able to get the ball downfield to the Saints receivers.
