Saints own second-most 'extreme' home-field advantage in NFL
1 Attachment(s)
Everybody in the NFL is looking for an edge over the opposition, whether it's with personnel, scheme or otherwise. Some teams are fortunate enough to have an advantage built in -- for eight games a year, at least -- with intimidating home fields and stadiums.
Count the New Orleans Saints in that bunch, as Cover32.com ranked the Mercedes-Benz SuperDome as the second-most "extreme" home-field advantage in the NFL. Only Seattle's CenturyLink Field, known for the 12th Man, was listed higher. As the article's author Shane Anderson points out, the Saints have gone undefeated at home two of the last four years (2011, 2013) in a stadium that can bring plenty of noise. "I mean, what can be louder than 90,000-plus fans under one roof in the party capital of America," Anderson asks. It's a valid question, and the Saints will hope they can give their dedicated and noisy fans a better show than in 2014, when New Orleans finished with a 7-9 record, including just a five-game home losing streak to end year. It's the structure, sound has nowhere to go with concrete. All the newer stadiums are build with thinner materials. They are not designed to last 1,000 years.

Hard to validate that after last year. Hopefully the advantage returns this year.

We don't have a great home field advantage when these young players expect to win at home because they weren't around when we didn't. That was the problem last season... Guys just expected to blow away teams in the Dome and they didn't put in the work.

We must need to turn up the Superdome speakers again.

Without clicking the link, I just knew that fake crowd noise dump would of been ranked above the Dome
