Delvin Breaux shines at cornerback during Saints' OTA session
1 Attachment(s)
There's been a clamoring from some New Orleans Saints fans wondering how well local product Delvin Breaux has performed at cornerback during these organized team activity sessions.
To say fans' hopes are high for Breaux wouldn't do the public outcry enough justice. Breaux received a chance to run with the first-team defense during Wednesday's OTA practice as Brandon Browner sat out. It's only one session of one OTA, but Breaux displayed the kind of promise that initially piqued fans' interest. The McDonogh 35 product had a highlight-filled day with an interception and numerous pass breakups, mostly against Drew Brees. read more |

Re: Delvin Breaux shines at cornerback during Saints' OTA session
New Orleans Saints rookie cornerback Delvin Breaux goes by "Chip" to his friends.
After a one-handed interception in an organized team activity on Wednesday, his new teammates know the name, too. "I told them they could start calling me Chip. That's my nickname. They were like, 'Yeah, we can do that now. You made a couple of plays today,'" Breaux said after the practice. A native of New Orleans, Breaux played in the Canadian Football League before signing with the Saints in January. Breaux said he picked up the nickname when he played little league ball at the Harrell Playground in New Orleans. "My brother and I are light skin and dark skin. So they called me 'Chocolate Chip' and they called him 'Butterscotch,'" Breaux said. After great day at OTA, Delvin Breaux's teammates can now call him 'Chip' | NOLA.com |
Re: Delvin Breaux shines at cornerback during Saints' OTA session
I could honestly see Breaux taking over the #2 CB spot sooner rather than later. Browner will be 31 when the season starts and when was the last time he played a full 16 game season? 2011? I know suspensions played a part in that but still... The guys a penalty machine as well. I have a good feeling about Breaux.

Re: Delvin Breaux shines at cornerback during Saints' OTA session
Breaux could be the X factor. CB is the place we really could use a couple of ballers to help turn the D around. Now all we need is Hau and David Tull to help the pass rush . Anthony should give us a ILB that can cover. Lots of IFs .Man we really need these guys to help on the defensive side. Jenkins and Vaccaro need to get over the sophomore slumps. Byrd needs to play up to his contract.

Oh and by the way... No mention of Stanley Jean-Baptiste yet. That dude ain't making the roster this year.

Re: Delvin Breaux shines at cornerback during Saints' OTA session
If the saints by the end of the year are able to not need Browner as a number 2 CB and are free to match him up anywhere the saints are sitting pretty darn good.
PJ has one flaw in his game that he must correct. He is not the greatest against inside moves. Swann is an interesting pick but were will he end up Breaux is a mystery and would be a great surprise. this will be a fun year at CB with all these solid young pups. |
